CITGO's CITCOOL 33 Is Going Green!
Did you ever hear that famous frog say, 鈥業t鈥檚 not easy being green鈥?? Well鈥ITGO
has found that when it comes to its CITCOOL 33 being green is a lot better than
being blue. This is especially true in warm climates.
CITCOOL 33鈥檚 blue dye, although not a performance factor, made it easy for
workers to identify the presence of the product in their particular applications.
However, when the product is exposed to heat for a prolonged period, the blue dye
tends to fade away. Because of the advantage of having color in the product,
CITGO tested the stability of an array of colors and found that green is quite stable
in the presence of heat.
Effective immediately, most CITGO plants will be transitioning to the new green
CITCOOL 33. This running change is expected to be completed by July 21st in the
plants that supply the warmer southern markets including Pico Rivera, Houston,
Bayonne and McKees, and available as a temporary item on the same date at the
Tampa and Atlanta source points. West Memphis' transition to the green dye will be
completed on or before September 1st. Cicero is expected to fully transition in
approximately five months due to current inventory levels of the blue dyed product.
