SECTION IV
FIRE ANDEXPLOSION HAZARD DATA
Flash Point (Method Used): None
No fire or explosion hazard, however, the particulates generated may represent a dust explosion hazard. May evolve
irritating and toxic decomposition products from combustion.
SECTION V
HEALTH HAZARD DATA
EFFECTS OF OVEREXPOSURE
ACUTE:
Eyes: Particles may cause irritation. Manganese, copper, sulfur dioxide and iron oxide may cause irritation of eyes, nose,
and throat in mouth and metal fume fever.
Skin: This material is not toxic. No toxic effects from powdered gypsum are noticed where air contains contaminate to
excess. May dry skin. This material exhibits some affinity for moisture, and frequent exposures may have a drying effect
on the skin. Possible itching and irritation may be experienced. This may lead to dermatitis. Absorption of boric acid into
blood stream through damaged skin may result in erythema or macular rash.
Inhalation: Inhalation of dusts from this product may irritate the nose, throat, lungs and upper respiratory tract. Boric acid
may be absorbed through mucous membranes. Persons subjected to large amounts of this dust will be forced to leave
area because of nuisance conditions such as coughing, sneezing and nasal irritation from dust. Prolonged or repeated
exposures to high concentrations may cause lung changes considered to be a benign pneumoconiosis. Manganese may
cause irritation of eyes, nose, and throat in mouth and metal fume fever. Advanced exposure symptoms may include
weakness, sleepiness, nervousness, and lack of coordination, uncontrollable laughter, and aggressiveness. If cutting the
material, wear a dust mask in all circumstances. In low ventilation situations, use NIOSH/MSHA-approved respirator when
necessary.
INGESTION: Calcium sulfate is nontoxic, however, ingestion of a sufficient quantity could lead to mechanical obstruction
of the gut. Large doses of boric acid absorbed into blood may result in erythema, macular rash, diarrhea, dizziness, and
CNS effects after 36-72 hours. Ingestion of 5 grams or more boric acid may irritate gastrointestinal system and affect
central nervous system.
CHRONIC:
Prolonged and repeated exposure to respirable crystalline silica can result in lung disease and/or lung cancer.
EMERGENCY AND FIRST AIR PROCEDURE:
EYES: Flush thoroughly for 15 min to remove particles.
SKIN: Wash with soap and water. Apply hand lotion to treat dry skin.
2
Inhalation: Leave the area.
Ingestion: Call physician
Target Organs: Eyes, Skin, Lungs, Respiratory system
Medical Conditions that may be aggravated: Preexisting upper respiratory lung disease, but not limited to bronchitis,
emphysema, and asthma.
Primary Routes of Entry: Inhalation, eyes, and skin contact.
CARCIINOGENICITY OF INGREDIENTS:
IARC NTP
Crystalline Silica: Group1 Anticipated
IARC states that crystalline silica in the form of quartz or cristobalite from occupational sources is carcinogenic to humans
(Group 1).
The average concentration of silica was less than 0.07 wt%. Respirable silica was not detected in air samples while
cutting the panels with a power saw for eight hours.
SECTION VI
RECATIVITY DATA
STABILITY: Stable
INCOMPATIBILTY: None
Hazardous Polymerization: Will not occur
Hazardous Decomposition: Above 1450 C could produce So2, CaO, CO2, CO
SECTION VII
SPILL OR LEAK PROCEDURES
No special precaution. Wear appropriate protective equipment. Dispose of material in accordance with federal, state, and
local regulations.
SECTION VIII
SPECIAL PROTECTION INFORMATION
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
Approved eye protection is recommended for operations involving machining. Wear dust mask when cutting. Use
NIOSH/MSHA-approved respirator when necessary.
RESPIRATORY PROTECTION:
Not typically necessary under normal conditions of use. Avoid inhalation of dust. Wear dust mask when cutting. Wear a
NIOSH/MESHA- approved respirator if TLV is exceeded and/or when dusty conditions exist to guard against nuisance
particles.
VENTILLATION:
General ventilation should be adequate.

SECTION IX
SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS
PRECAUTION TO BE TAKEN IN HANDLING AND STORAGE
Follow good safety and industrial hygiene practices during handling and installation of all QuietRock products. Store in a
dry place. Store all products flat. Panels are heavy and can fall over causing, serious injury or death. DO NOT MOVE
UNLESS AUTHORIZED.
WARNING - AVOID BREATHING SILICA DUST
QUIET SOLUTION products, like most gypsum wallboard products, contain silica. Inhalation of respirable silica can cause
silicosis which is a potentially disabling lung disease, and which is known to the State of California to cause lung cancer.
When drilling, cutting, or abrading products during installation or handling: (1) Work outdoors where feasible, otherwise
use mechanical ventilation, (2) Wear a dust mask, or if dust may exceed PEL, use NIOSH/MSHA approved respirator
(recommended), (3) Warn others in area. According to medical experts, and the Surgeon General for the United States,
cigarette smoking can significantly increase your likelihood for contracting lung-related diseases, including silica-related
lung diseases. For further information, refer to our installation instructions and Material Safety Data Sheet available at
www.QuietSolution.com or by calling 1-800-797-8159. FAILURE TO ADHERE TO WARNINGS, MSDS, AND
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS MAY LEAD TO SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY.
