VERSATEX Paint Specification
Versatex does not require painting for protection; however, it can be painted to match
existing colors or to achieve a desired look. Use a 100% acrylic latex paint or 100% acrylic
latex with a urethane additive paint to achieve superior durability and flexibility. Use only
light- to medium-colored paints with a light reflective value of 55 units or greater.
PPG Industries conducted tests to evaluate the adhesion and visual appearance of four
coatings: Olympic (Machine Coat) 54670 Flat Pastel Base, Sun-Proof Exterior House and
Trim Flat Latex Primer (72-1 Series), Manor Hall Exterior Premium Flat Acrylic Latex
(74-45 Series), and Manor Hall Exterior Premium Eggshell Acrylic Latex/Urethane
Modified (79-45 Series).

Simply using a recommended product does not ensure a perfect finish. Finish results and
the paint longevity depend on the amount of paint applied, proper application, and the
weather conditions during application.

Handling/Application Information
Surface Preparation
To ensure good adhesion, Versatex should be clean, dry, and free of dirt, loose or peeling
paint, mildew, chalk, grease, and other surface contaminants before painting.
Application
Apply when air and surface temperatures are 35F潞 (2潞C) or above and will remain above
35潞F (2潞C) for 24 hours. Avoid painting early in the morning or late in the day when dew
and condensation are likely to form or when rain or snow is likely.
Always follow PPG or other paint manufacturer鈥檚 application instructions. Read and follow
warnings on the label.
Drying Times
Dries to the touch in 30 minutes and is fully cured in 30 days. Product can be handled in 1
hour. Apply recoat in 4 hours. Drying times are based on 77潞F (25潞C) and 50% relative
humidity.
Features and Benefits
Recommended paints provide superior hiding, superior adhesion, fade and chalk resistance,
and soap and water cleanup. Flash point is over 200潞F (93潞C). To prolong the shelf life of
the paint, always protect it from freezing
