3. HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION

WARNING: SEVERE EYE IRRITANT
鈥? Emergency Overview:

鈥? Potential Health Effects:

Eye - Eye contact will result in severe irritation. Will cause discomfort and pain with excess tear
production and blinking. There may be moderate to marked conjunctivitis as seen by excessive
redness and swelling of the conjunctiva.

Skin 鈥? Prolonged and/or repeated skin contact with concentrated product may cause skin dryness or
mild to moderate irritation.

Inhalation - Inhalation of heated vapors or sprayed mists may result in lung injury.

Ingestion - May cause abdominal discomfort, nausea, and diarrhea.

Known effects on other illnesses: Preexisting skin and eye disorders may be aggravated by exposure to this product.

鈥? Physical/Chemical Hazards: None identified.

鈥? Environmental Hazards: None identified.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________
4. FIRST AID MEASURES

鈥? Eye - In case of contact, immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes.
Immediately obtain medical attention.

鈥? Skin - Rinse skin completely with water upon contact. Remove contaminated clothing. Wash clothing
before reuse. Avoid skin contact. If contact has been widespread or prolonged, or if irritation
continues, consult a physician.

鈥? Inhalation - Remove to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult,
give oxygen. Get medical attention immediately.

鈥? Ingestion - Wash out mouth with water provided person is conscious, have victim drink plenty of water.
Do NOT induce vomiting. Immediately call a physician.

5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES

鈥? Extinguishing media: SMALL FIRES: CO2 or dry chemical
LARGE FIRES: Alcohol foam

鈥? Unsuitable extinguishing media: Not available.

鈥? Flash Point and method: >300掳 F

5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES - CONTINUED

鈥? Auto-ignition temperature: Not available

鈥? Sensitivity to mechanical impact/static discharge: Not available

鈥? Special Protective Equipment: Wear positive pressure self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) and full
bunker gear.

鈥? Other Fire Fighting Considerations: Prolonged, high-temperature storage may generate explosive vapors in
headspace. Cool containers with flooding quantities of water until well after
fire is out. Do not flush down sewers and other drainage systems. Product
floats on water creating a potential floating fire hazard.

鈥? Exposure hazards: Hazardous decomposition products are peroxides and peracids. Burning releases carbon monoxide
and/or carbon dioxide.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________
6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES

鈥? Personal Precautions: NIOSH/MSHA approved respirator should be used if a mist or vapor is generated.
Wear suitable gloves and eye/face protection. Do not touch damaged containers or spilled
material unless wearing appropriate protective clothing.

鈥? Environmental Precautions: Dike flow of spilled material using soil or sandbags to minimize contamination of
drains, surface and ground waters.

鈥? Procedures for Spill/Leak Clean-up: Dike flow of spilled materials using soil or sandbags to minimize
contamination of drains, surface and ground waters. Neutralization
not required. Absorb or cover with dry earth, sand or other non-combustible
material and transfer to containers for disposal.

Refer to Section 8 for additional personal protection information.
Refer to Section 13 for disposal considerations.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________
7. HANDLING AND STORAGE

鈥? Handling: Handle in accordance with good hygiene and safety procedures. Avoid contact with eyes, skin, and
clothing. Wash thoroughly after handling. Since empty containers contain product residue, follow all
hazard warnings and precautions even after container is emptied. Keep away from sources of ignition.

鈥? Storage: Store in original closed containers in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area. Store separately from all
combustible, organic and oxidizable materials.

鈥? Specific use(s): Do not blow air into storage tank during line blowouts. Use nitrogen blanket or purge in
storage tank. Eliminate any possibility of air leaks into the tank. Use only hot water to maintain heat.
Internal coils should be stainless steel. Low pressure steam can be used for heatups, but should
preferably be in external coils. Use carbon steel or stainless steel storage tanks.

Store in a tightly closed container in a cool, dry, ventilated area. Prolonged, high-temperature storage
may generate explosive vapors in headspace.
Keep away from heat sources, oxidizing agents and strong bases.
NAME: AE-2 ISSUE DATE: February 9, 2004 Page 4 of 7

7. HANDLING AND STORAGE - CONTINUED

Refer to Section 6 for clean-up of spillages.
Refer to Section 13 for disposal considerations.
______________________________________________________________________________________________________
8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION

鈥? General Precautions: Good industrial hygiene practices should be followed.
Avoid breathing (heated) vapors. Avoid eye and skin contact.

鈥? Exposure Limit Values: Not established

鈥? Exposure Controls:

Engineering Controls: Ventilation: Local exhaust - preferred
Mechanical - may be necessary if working at elevated temperatures
or in enclosed areas.
Provide ventilation to meet exposure limits

Personal Protective Equipment:

Eye - Goggles or face shield with goggles, dependent upon potential exposure.

Skin - Protective gloves: Neoprene or rubber gloves
Dependent upon degree of potential exposure, additional personal protective
equipment may be required, such as chemical boots and full protective clothing.

Inhalation - An appropriate NIOSH/MSHA approved air-purifying respirator should be used if a mist or vapor is
generated. A NIOSH/MSHA approved self-contained breathing apparatus or air-supplied respirator is
recommended if the concentration exceeds the capacity of cartridge respirator.
WARNING: Air-purifying respirators do not protect workers in oxygen-deficient atmospheres.

Other Controls: Boots, eye wash fountain, safety shower, apron, protective clothing.
