0 = Minimal Hazard 1=Slight Hazard 2=Moderate Hazard
3= Serious Hazard 4=Severe Hazard

Personal Protection: MUST WEAR CUT-RESISTANT GLOVES (SUCH AS THOSE CONTAINING POLYAMIDE COTTON OR
KEVLAR WHILE HANDLING OR CUTTING). Approved eye protection is recommended for operations involving
machining. Use a dust mask when handling or cutting this product. Use NIOSH/MSHA-approved respirator when
necessary.

SECTION III

SECTION IV
FIRE ANDEXPLOSION HAZARD DATA
Flash Point (Method Used): NA
Flammable Limits
LEL: 40 g/m3 for wood dusts
UEL:
Extinguishing media: Water, Carbon dioxide, and Sand
Auto Ignition Temperature 400 鈥? 500 掳F
Special Fire Fighting Procedure: Use water to thoroughly wet all panel surfaces and to saturate wood dust.
Remove any charred material to an open space area to ensure all fire is
extinguished. Avoid breathing smoke. Wear Self-contained Breathing
Apparatus.
Unusual Fire Explosion Hazard: Wood dust generated from panel sawing, sanding, and machining etc.
may create a severe fire or explosion hazard. May evolve irritating and
toxic decomposition products (CO, CO2, HCHO) under fire conditions.

SECTION V
HEALTH HAZARD DATA

Threshold Limit Value: 5.0 mg/m3 Wood Dust
Signs and Symptoms of Exposure: 1. Acute overexposure: Wood dust is a mechanical irritant to eyes,
throat, and nose. Manganese, copper, and iron oxide may cause
irritation of eyes, nose, and throat in mouth and metal fume fever.
2. Chronic Overexposure: Some wood species may cause allergic
contact dermatitis in sensitized individuals

Medical Conditions Generally Aggravated by Exposure: Preexisting respiratory conditions
Chemically Listed as Carcinogen or Potential Carcinogen: Formaldehyde is listed by IARC, NTP and
OSHA as Probable Human Carcinogen.
OSHA Permissible Exposure Limit: 15 mg/m3 PNOC
0.75 ppm Formaldehyde
3

Other Exposure Limit used 10 mg/m3 STEL wood dust
Emergency and First Aid Procedure:
Inhalation: Exposure to excessive concentrations may cause unpleasant deposition
in the nasal passage resulting dryness, cough and headache.
Eyes: May mechanically irritate eyes resulting in redness or watering. Flush
with clean water to remove particles. If irritation persists, seek medical
advice.
Ingestion: N/A

SECTION VI
RECATIVITY DATA
STABILITY: Stable
INCOMPATIBILTY: Oxidizing and Drying Oils. Avoid open flame: may ignite at temperatures in
excess of 400 掳F .
Hazardous Polymerization: Will not occur
Hazardous Decomposition: Toxic fumes and gases, including CO2, CO, and HCHO

SECTION VII
SPILL OR LEAK PROCEDURES
Steps in case of Spill Vacuum, sweep, or shovel to minimize dust generation. Provide adequate ventilation.

SECTION VIII
SPECIAL PROTECTION INFORMATION
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
Approved eye protection is recommended for operations involving machining. Wear dust mask when cutting. Use
NIOSH/MSHA-approved respirator when necessary. Edges have metal inside: ALWAYS USE CUT-RESISTANT
GLOVES (such as Kevlar or Polyamide Cotton).

RESPIRATORY PROTECTION:
Not typically necessary under normal conditions of use. Avoid inhalation of dust. Wear dust mask when cutting.
Wear a NIOSH/MESHA- approved respirator if TLV is exceeded and/or when dusty conditions exist to guard
against nuisance particles.

VENTILLATION:
General ventilation should be adequate.
SECTION IX
SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS
SAFETY FIRST!
Handling and Storage: Store in cool, dry place away from open flame, sparks or hot surfaces. Edges have metal
inside: ALWAYS USE CUT-RESISTANT GLOVES (such as Kevlar or Polyamide Cotton).
Other: Static electricity may be sufficient to ignite wood dust
Disposal: . Dispose of material in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Follow good safety and industrial hygiene practices during handling and installation of all QuietWood products.
Store all products flat. Panels are heavy and can fall over causing serious injury or death. DO NOT MOVE
UNLESS AUTHORIZED.
