SECTION II HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION
_______________________________________________________________________________

ACUTE

EYES
May cause mild irritation. Corneal injury is unlikely.
SKIN CONTACT
Prolonged or repeated exposure not likely to cause significant skin irritation. A single prolonged exposure is not likely to
result in the material being absorbed through skin in harmful amounts. May be absorbed in potentially harmful amounts
when applied in large quantities to severe burns (second or third degree) over large areas of the body as part of a cream
or other topical application. Absorption under such circumstances can elevate serum osmolality and may result in
osmotic shock.
INGESTION
Low single dose toxicity. Small amounts swallowed incidental to normal handling operations are not likely to cause injury.
INHALATION
At room temperature, vapors are minimal due to physical properties. If heated or sprayed as an aerosol, airborne
material may cause upper respiratory irritation. ACGIH TLV is 10 mg/m3. OSHA PEL is 5 mg/m3 respirable (10 mg/m3
total).

CHRONIC
CHRONIC EFFECTS OF EXPOSURE
Repeated excessive exposure may cause increased fat levels in blood. Observations in animals include kidney, liver and
gastrointestinal effects with very large oral doses.

SECTION IV FIRST AID MEASURES
________________________________________________________________________________

EYES
Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes while holding eyelids open.
SKIN CONTACT
Remove contaminated clothing and wash off skin with soap and water. Wash contaminated clothes. If irritation develops,
contact a physician.
INHALATION
Remove person from contaminated area to fresh air, if effects occur. Avoid heated vapors. May cause severe irritation
with overexposure. Seek medical attention. Administer oxygen if available. Bronchodilators, expectorants and
antitussives may be of help.
INGESTION
Seek medical attention. Do not induce vomiting unless directed to do so by medical personnel.
NOTE TO PHYSICIAN: No specific antidote. Supportive care. Treatment based on judgment of the physician in
response to reactions of the patient.

EXTINGUISHER MEDIA
Water fog or fine spray, carbon dioxide, dry chemical, foam. Alcohol resistant foams (ATC type) or protein foams may
function, but much less effectively. Do not use direct water stream. Will spread fire.
SPECIAL FIRE FIGHTING PROCEDURES
Evacuate area of all unnecessary personnel. Use NIOSH/MSHA approved self-contained breathing apparatus and other
protective equipment.
UNUSUAL FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARDS
During a fire, smoke may contain the original material in addition to unidentified toxic and/or irritating compounds.
Hazardous combustion products may include and are not limited to: Aldehydes, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide.
Violent steam generation or eruption may occur upon application of direct water stream.

SECTION VI ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
________________________________________________________________________________

RESPONSE TO SMALL SPILLS
Absorb with non-combustible absorbent material. Dispose of properly, prevent from entering sewers. The product is a
non-hazardous waste when spilled material is disposed of defined in Resource Conservation Recovery Act (RCRA)
regulations (40CFR261).
WASTE DISPOSAL
Place in an appropriate disposal facility in compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations.
________________________________________________________________________________

SECTION VII HANDLING AND STORAGE
________________________________________________________________________________
HANDLING AND STORAGE: Skin and eye contact should be avoided as good industrial practice. Wearing of protective
gloves and eye protection is recommended. Wash hands and contaminated skin area after handling. Follow all warnings
and precautions even after container is emptied. Wash thoroughly after handling or at the end of the shift.
OTHER PRECAUTIONS: Store in cool dry place away from strong oxidizers and acids. Keep container tightly closed
when not in use. All handling equipment should be properly grounded to prevent the build-up of electrostatic charges.
Storage area should be equipped with CO2 system. Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety
practices.
SECTION 7 NOTES: Containers should not be opened until ready for use. Use clean non-sparking equipment and tools
when handling.
________________________________________________________________________________

SECTION VIII EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION
________________________________________________________________________________

RESPIRATORY PROTECTION
Not typically required. If material is heated or sprayed, use an approved air-purifying respirator. If exposure exceeds
permissible exposure limits wear a self-contained breathing apparatus in compliance with NIOSH/MSHA specifications.
Comply with 29CFR 1910.134.
VENTILATION
General (mechanical) room ventilation is generally satisfactory.
PROTECTIVE GLOVES
Not generally required.
EYE PROTECTION
Wear chemical goggles if there is likelihood of contact with eyes.
ADDITIONAL PROTECTIVE CLOTHING OR EQUIPMENT
Eye wash fountains and safety showers should be available for emergency use.
