Blue, damp crystals. Odorless.
REACTIVITY & CONDITIONS TO AVOID
Stable. Oxidizing. Avoid contact with organic matter, solvents, paper and wood. No hazardous
self-reactivity. Will dissolve in water absorbed from moist air.
FIRE HAZARDS
May cause fire or explosion when heated with organic matter. Firefighters wear SCBA.

HEALTH HAZARDS
May be irritating to skin, eyes and internally. May be harmful if swallowed or inhaled. LD/TD
no data found. OSHA PEL/ACGIH TLV TWA: 1 mg (Cu)/m 3 as dust or mist. No evidence of
carcinogenicity. The perchlorate ion has been shown to interfere with iodine uptake by the
thyroid in test animals. Studies on workers in plants where perchlorate salts are manufactured
have shown no thyroid abnormalities. Thyroid effects on humans continues to be studied.
SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS
Wear safety glasses and gloves while handling. Store away from flammable materials and strong
acids. Store in well sealed containers protected from moisture.
FIRST AID
Wash up well with water. If eye irritation persists, get medical attention. If swallowed, give
water with milk of magnesia and get medical attention. Do not induce vomiting unless directed
by a physician.
SPILLS & LEAKS
Wash up with water. See local sewer regulations for allowable disposal rate. Larger amounts
to hazardous waste site.
