Protective gloves recommended

The glove material has to be impermeable and resistant to the product/ the substance/ the preparation.
Due to missing tests no recommendation to the glove material can be given for the product/ the preparation/ the
chemical mixture.
Selection of the glove material on consideration of the penetration times, rates of diffusion and the degradation
路 Material of gloves
The selection of the suitable gloves does not only depend on the material, but also on further marks of quality and
varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. As the product is a preparation of several substances, the resistance
of the glove material can not be calculated in advance and has therefore to be checked prior to the application.
路 Penetration time of glove material
The exact break trough time has to be found out by the manufacturer of the protective gloves and has to be
observed.
路 Eye protection: Safety glasses with side shields recommended

10 Stability and reactivity
路 Thermal decomposition / conditions to be avoided: No decomposition if used according to specifications.
路 Dangerous reactions No dangerous reactions known.
路 Dangerous products of decomposition:
The organic binder in this product falls into a class known as phenolic resin. Refractory products using this type
of binder are supplied in two forms, (1) shaped products such as brick and (2) monolithics such as refractory
plastics and rams. The hazards associated with phenolic resin are different in the two forms.

For pre-cured shapes(brick), the binder has been reacted or polymerized by heat to its solid form prior to
shipment. On decomposition by heating, where there is sufficient air and heating rate, the gaseous products are
mostly carbon dioxide and water. Under low or limited oxygen supply, decomposition products during heat-up
and early service may include phenol, as well as aromatic and/or aliphatic derivatives. After a campaign in
service, this refractory product should be completely coked and in that condition the material for disposal would
be carbon and an inorganic oxide.

During field installation of non-cured unshaped products (monolithics), there is a possibility of exposure to trace
amounts of phenol by skin contact and inhalation. After the product has been heated to high temperatures in
service, it will have similar decomposition characteristics to pre-cured shapes.
