4. First-Aid Measures
4.1 General Recommendations:
Inhalation:
鈥? Remove the subject from the contaminated area as son as possible; transport
him/her lying down, with the head higher than the body, to a quiet, uncontaminated and
well-ventilated location.
鈥? Administer oxygen or cardiopulmonary resuscitation if necessary.
鈥? Keep warm (blanket).
鈥? Consult a physician in all cases.
鈥? Take to a hospital.
Eyes:
鈥? Consult an ophthalmologist immediately in all cases.
鈥? Take to a hospital immediately.
鈥? Flush eyes as soon as possible with running water for 15 minutes, while keeping the
eyelids wide open.
鈥? Rinse the eyes with calcium gluconate (1% solution in physiological serum)
(10 ml of calcium gluconate 10% in 90 ml of physiological serum).
鈥? In case of difficulty opening the lids, administer an analgesic eyewash
(oxybuprocaine).
Skin:
鈥? Remove contaminated shoes, socks and clothing, under the shower if necessary;
wash the affected skin with running water.
鈥? Immediately apply calcium gluconate gel (2.5%) and massage into the affected area
using rubber gloves; continue to massage while repeatedly applying gel until 15 minutes
after pain is relieved.
鈥? If fingers/fingernails are touched, even if there is no pain, dip them in a bath of 5%
calcium gluconate for 15 to 20 minutes.
鈥? Keep warm (blanket); provide clean clothing.
鈥? Consult a physician in all cases.
Ingestion:

鈥? Take to a hospital immediately.
If the subject is completely conscious:
鈥? Rinse mouth with fresh water.
鈥? Give a 1% aqueous calcium gluconate solution to drink.
