3. Hazards Identification
WARNING


Health: This product may cause irritation to the eyes and skin.
This product is irritating to the respiratory system.
Prolonged or repeated contact with this product may dry and/or defat
the skin.
Aspiration hazard if swallowed; can enter lungs and cause damage.

Physical and Chemical Hazards: Combustible liquid.

Environment: Material contains a chemical which is a Hazardous Air Pollutant (HAP),
regulated by the United States Clean Air Act.


4. First-Aid Measures
Inhalation: If gas/fume/vapor/dust/mist from the material is inhaled, remove the
affected person immediately to fresh air.
If irritation persists, get medical attention.

Skin Contact: Immediately take off all contaminated clothing.
Wash skin with soap and water.
If irritation persists, get medical attention.

Eye Contact: In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water for
at least 15 minutes and seek medical attention.

Ingestion: If the material is swallowed, get immediate medical attention or advice
-- Do not induce vomiting.

Notes to a Physician: If the affected person is not breathing, apply artificial respiration.
If the affected person's breathing is difficult, give oxygen.
This material, if aspirated into the lungs, may cause chemical
pneumonitis; treat the affected person appropriately.


5. Fire-Fighting Measures
Extinguishing Media: Dry chemical, foam, carbon dioxide, water fog.

Specific Hazards: Vapors are heavier than air and may travel along the ground to some
distant source of ignition and flash back.
Vapors emitted may form a flammable mixture with air.
Empty containers may retain product residue including Flammable or
Explosive vapors. Do not cut, drill, grind, or weld near full, partially full,
or empty product containers.
Water or foam may cause frothing if the product is heated above 93
degrees C (200 degrees F).

Protection of Firefighters: Fire fighters should be equipped with NIOSH-approved, self-contained
breathing apparatus (SCBA) and full protective clothing.


6. Accidental Release Measures
Personal Precautions: Avoid inhalation of vapors and contact with skin and eyes.
Do not smoke or use open fire or other sources of ignition.
Eliminate all sources of ignition or flammables that may come into
contact with a spill of this material.
Ventilate the contaminated area.
Wear appropriate protective equipment and clothing during clean-up.

Environmental Precautions: Do not allow the spilled product to enter public drainage system or
open water courses.

Methods for Cleaning Up: Contain the discharged material.
Absorb the spilled material with an inert absorbent (nonflammable)
material.

7. Handling and Storage
Handling:



Technical Measures: Keep this product from heat, sparks, or open flame.

Precautions and Advice for Safe Avoid breathing vapor, mist or gas.
Handling: Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing.
Avoid prolonged or repeated skin contact with this material.
Keep away from heat, spark and open flame.

Storage: Do not store at temperatures above 120掳F (49掳C)

Storage Conditions: Store in a cool, well-ventilated area away from sources of heat.
Ground all containers of this material.


8. Exposure Controls/Personal Protection
Engineering Measures: General (mechanical) room ventilation is expected to be satisfactory if
handled at low temperatures or in covered equipment. Local
ventilation is needed in the presence of airborne mists.

Control Parameters: If oil mist is generated, observe the OSHA exposure limit of 5 mg/m3.
Ford Motor Company recommends an exposure limit of 1.0 mg/m3.

Personal Protective Equipment:

None required under normal conditions.
Respiratory Protection:
If engineering controls do not maintain airborne concentrations to a
level which is adequate to protect worker health, an approved
respirator must be worn. Respirator selection, use and maintenance
should be in accordance with the requirements of OSHA Respiratory
Protection Standard 29 CFR 1910.134 and/or Canadian Standard
CSA Z94.4.

Use of impervious gloves is recommended, such as neoprene.
Hand Protection:

Wear chemical goggles; face shield (if splashing is possible).
Eye Protection:

Remove contaminated clothing and wash before reuse.

11. Toxicological Information
This product contains naphthalene. A U.S. National Toxicology Program
Chronic (Long Term) Toxicity:
(NTP) report states that a lifetime inhalation exposure to naphthalene
resulted in increases in tumors of the nose in rats. In a previous U.S.
NTP study, lifetime inhalation exposure to naphthalene increased lung
tumors in female mice. The relevance of the rodent findings to humans
is questionable.
