**** SECTION 3 - HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION ****

EMERGENCY OVERVIEW
Highly flammable. Contact with water liberates extremely flammable
gases. May form explosive peroxides. Causes
burns.Corrosive.Water-reactive.

Potential Health Effects
Eye:
Causes eye burns. When substance becomes wet or comes in contact
with moisture of the mucous membranes, it will cause irritation. May
cause chemical conjunctivitis and corneal damage.
Skin:
Causes skin burns. May cause cyanosis of the extremities. May cause
skin rash (in milder cases), and cold and clammy skin with cyanosis
or pale color.
Ingestion:
May cause severe and permanent damage to the digestive tract. Causes
gastrointestinal tract burns. May cause liver and kidney damage. May
cause perforation of the digestive tract. Ingestion of large amounts
may cause CNS depression. May be harmful if swallowed. May cause
systemic effects.
Inhalation:
Causes chemical burns to the respiratory tract. May cause effects
similar to those described for ingestion. Inhalation may be fatal as
a result of spasm, inflammation, edema of the larynx and bronchi,
chemical pneumonitis and pulmonary edema. Aspiration may lead to
pulmonary edema. Vapors may cause dizziness or suffocation. May
cause systemic effects. May cause burning sensation, coughing,
wheezing, laryngitis, shortness of breath, headache, nausea, and
vomiting.
Chronic:
Effects may be delayed.

**** SECTION 4 - FIRST AID MEASURES ****

Eyes:
Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes,
occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Get medical aid
immediately. Do NOT allow victim to rub eyes or keep eyes closed.
Extensive irrigation with water is required (at least 30 minutes).
Skin:
Get medical aid immediately. Immediately flush skin with plenty of
water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing
and shoes. Wash clothing before reuse. Destroy contaminated shoes.
If water-reactive products are embedded in the skin, no water should
be applied. The embedded products should be covered with a light
oil.
Ingestion:
Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Get medical
aid immediately. Do NOT induce vomiting. If conscious and alert,
rinse mouth and drink 2-4 cupfuls of milk or water.
Inhalation:
Get medical aid immediately. Remove from exposure and move to fresh
air immediately. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Do not use
mouth-to-mouth resuscitation if victim ingested or inhaled the
substance; induce artificial respiration with the aid of a pocket
mask equipped with a one-way valve or other proper respiratory
medical device.

**** SECTION 5 - FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES ****

General Information:
As in any fire, wear a self-contained breathing apparatus in
pressure-demand, MSHA/NIOSH (approved or equivalent), and full
protective gear. Vapors may form an explosive mixture with air.
Vapors can travel to a source of ignition and flash back. During a
fire, irritating and highly toxic gases may be generated by thermal
decomposition or combustion. Will burn if involved in a fire. Water
Reactive. Material will react with water and may release a flammable
and/or toxic gas. Use water spray to keep fire-exposed containers
cool. Containers may explode in the heat of a fire. Flammable liquid
and vapor. Vapors may be heavier than air. They can spread along the
ground and collect in low or confined areas. May ignite or explode on
contact with steam or moist air.
Extinguishing Media:
Use dry sand or earth to smother fire. Do NOT use water directly on
fire. Do NOT use carbon dioxide. Use dry chemical to fight fire. DO
NOT USE WATER! Contact professional fire-fighters immediately.

**** SECTION 6 - ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES ****

General Information: Use proper personal protective equipment as indicated
in Section 8.
Spills/Leaks:
Clean up spills immediately, observing precautions in the Protective
Equipment section. Cover with sand, dry lime or soda ash and place in
a closed container for disposal. Remove all sources of ignition. Use
a spark-proof tool. Do not expose spill to water.

**** SECTION 7 - HANDLING and STORAGE ****

Handling:
Wash thoroughly after handling. Remove contaminated clothing and
wash before reuse. Use only in a well-ventilated area. Do not allow
water to get into the container because of violent reaction. Ground
and bond containers when transferring material. Use spark-proof tools
and explosion proof equipment. Do not breathe dust, vapor, mist, or
gas. Do not get in eyes, on skin, or on clothing. Empty containers
retain product residue, (liquid and/or vapor), and can be dangerous.
Keep away from heat, sparks and flame. Do not ingest or inhale. Use
and store under nitrogen. Do not allow contact with water. Use only
in a chemical fume hood. Discard contaminated shoes. Do not
pressurize, cut, weld, braze, solder, drill, grind, or expose empty
containers to heat, sparks or open flames. Keep from contact with
moist air and steam. Do not distill since this removes
peroxide-inhibitors. Store absolutely dry.
Storage:
Keep away from heat, sparks, and flame. Keep away from sources of
ignition. Keep container closed when not in use. Store in a cool,
dry, well-ventilated area away from incompatible substances. Keep
away from water. Flammables-area. Water free area. Vent
periodically.

Engineering Controls:
Facilities storing or utilizing this material should be equipped
with an eyewash facility and a safety shower. Use adequate general or
local explosion-proof ventilation to keep airborne levels to
acceptable levels.
