The following is based on P&G safety information for C10 - C16 alkyl dimethylamines:
Acute Oral Toxicity (Albino Rats)
LD50 = 1.1 g/kg. (C10 - C16 alkyl dimethylamines)
Eye Irritation (Rabbits)
Undiluted product, with no rinsing of the eyes after instillation, produced severe eye irritation. The severity of the response
decreased with rinsing.
Skin Irritation (Rabbits)
Undiluted product applied to the clipped, intact and abraded skin for 24 hours produced severe to corrosive skin response in
rabbits.
Primary Irritation Index = 7.0
Skin Sensitization (Guinea Pigs)
In a repeated insult patch test a 25% aqueous alkyl benzene sulfonate solution of product was applied to the clipped backs
of guinea pigs for 6 hours, once a week for 4 weeks. No sensitization was noted.
Other toxicological information: Prolonged skin contact may cause a severe effect, progressing to a delayed
burn. Brief contact may produce dermatitis, possibly delayed.
