11. TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION

Toxicological Data:
Except as noted, data from laboratory studies conducted on this formulation:
Oral: Rat LD50: >5,000 mg/kg; FIFRA Category IV
Dermal: Rabbit LD50: >2,000 mg/kg; FIFRA Category III
Eye Irritation: Rabbit: Non-irritating.
Skin Irritation: Rabbit: Non-irritating.
Skin Sensitization: Sensitizing (Guinea Pig) (technical bifenthrin)

Carcinogenicity / Chronic Health Effects: Bifenthrin has produced an increased incidence of urinary
bladder tumors in male mice at the highest dose level tested. This response, however, was considered
equivocal and not evidence of a clear compound related effect. The U.S. EPA has classified bifenthrin as
a Class C carcinogen (a possible human carcinogen). This product contains crystalline silica (e.g. quartz)
Inhalation of crystalline silica may cause pulmonary fibrosis (silicosis). Crystalline silica has been
classified by IARC as carcinogenic to humans (Group 1), by the U.S. National Toxicology Program as a
known human carcinogen and by ACGIH as a suspected human carcinogen (A2). It is present at less
than 0.01% in the product.
Reproductive Toxicity: In studies with animals, bifenthrin did not cause reproductive toxicity.
Developmental Toxicity: Animal tests with bifenthrin have not demonstrated developmental effects.
Genotoxicity: Tests with bifenthrin have shown an absence of genotoxicity.

Assessment Carcinogenicity:
This product contains substances that are considered to be probable or suspected human carcinogens
as follows:

Regulatory Agency Listing As Carcinogen

See Section 2: HAZARDOUS IDENTIFICATION for more information.

12. ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION

Ecotoxicity:
Bifenthrin is highly toxic to fish and aquatic arthropods and LC50 values range from 0.0038 to 17.8 碌g/L. In
general, the aquatic arthropods are the most sensitive species. Care should be taken to avoid
contamination of the aquatic environment. Bifenthrin had no effect on mollusks at its limit of water
solubility. Bifenthrin is only slightly toxic to both waterfowl and upland game birds (LD50 values range from
1,800 mg/kg to >2,150 mg/kg).

Environmental Fate:
In the soil, bifenthrin is stable over a wide pH range and degrades at a slow rate that is governed by soil
characteristics. Bifenthrin will also persist in aquatic sediments. Bifenthrin has a high Log Pow (>6.0), a

Page 4 of 6 September 16, 2005
MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEET Menace Nursery Granular Insecticide

high affinity for organic matter, and is not mobile in soil. Therefore, there is little potential for movement
into ground water. There is the potential for bifenthrin to bioconcentrate (BCF = 11,750).

13. DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS

Waste Disposal Method:
Wastes resulting from the use of this product may be disposed of on site or at an approved waste
disposal facility.

Container Handling and Disposal:
Paper and Plastic Bags: Completely empty into application equipment. Then dispose of empty bag in a
