Medical Conditions Aggravated by Over Exposure: Not Known.
Other Comments: Activated carbon (especially when wet) can deplete oxygen from air in enclosed spaces, and
dangerously low levels of oxygen may result. Appropriate cautions should be taken when dealing with spent (used)
activated carbon as the product may exhibit properties of adsorbed materials.
Pre-Existing Medical Conditions: Not Known
SECTION 4: FIRST AID MEASURES
Skin Exposure: Thoroughly wash with mild soap and water. Seek medical attention if irritation develops.
Eye Exposure: Immediately flush eye with copious amounts of water and seek medical attention if irritation
develops.
Inhalation: Remove victim to fresh air. Seek medical attention if cough or respiratory symptoms
develop.
Ingestion: Give one or two glasses of water to drink and seek medical attention if gastrointestinal
symptoms develop.
SECTION 5: FIRE / EXPLOSION HAZARDS & FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES
Flash Point: NA Autoignition Temperature: NA

Fire Extinguishing Equipment: Use extinguishing agent suitable for type of surrounding fire.
Water Spray: OK Carbon Dioxide: OK Halon: OK
Foam: OK Dry Chemical: OK Other: Any 鈥淎BC鈥? Class
Unusual Fire and Explosion Hazards: Under certain conditions, any airborne dust may be an explosion hazard.
Explosion Sensitivity to Mechanical Impact: Not sensitive.
Explosion Sensitivity to Static Discharge: Not sensitive.
Special Fire Fighting Procedures: For fires beyond the incipient stage, emergency responders in the immediate
hazard area should wear bunker gear. When the potential chemical hazard is unknown, in enclosed or confined
spaces, or when explicitly required by the DOT Emergency Response Guidebook, a self-contained breathing
apparatus should be worn. In addition, wear other appropriate protective equipment as conditions warrant (see
Section 8). Isolate immediate hazard area and keep unauthorized personnel out. Contain spill if it can be done with
minimal risk. Move undamaged containers from immediate hazard area if it can be done with minimal risk. Cool
equipment exposed to fire with water, if it can be done with minimal risk.
HAZARD CLASS: Health: 1 (Least)
Flammability: 0 (Least)
Reactivity: 0 (Least)
SECTION 6: SPILL AND LEAK PROCEDURES
Spill and Leak Response:
Immediate cleanup of spills is recommended, however do so in a fashion that will not disperse dust into air. Wash
affected area with water.

drink, smoke or apply cosmetics while handling the product. Wash hands thoroughly after handling.
Storage and Handling Practices: Store at controlled room temperature 15掳C to 30掳C (59掳F to 86掳F). Keep container
closed when not in use. Store away from strong oxidizers such as liquid oxygen, ozone, chlorine etc.
Protective Practices during Maintenance of Contaminated Equipment: ND
SECTION 8: EXPOSURE CONTROLS / PERSONAL PROTECTION
Ventilation and Engineering Controls: Use local exhaust ventilation to control emissions near the source.
Respiratory Protection: Keep dust exposure to a minimum with administrative controls. Use appropriate NOISH
approved particulate respirators if necessary.
Eye Protection: Safety glasses with eye shields are recommended for any type of handling.
Hand Protection: No special requirements under normal condition of use, however clinicians repeatedly
administering the product should wear non-latex gloves.

SECTION 11: TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION
Toxicity Data: This material is non-toxic in its original state; however used activated carbon may exhibit
characteristics of the adsorbed material.
Suspected Cancer Agent: Activated carbon is not listed as potential carcinogens by any agency. Activated carbon
with Bentonite may contain crystalline silica, which has been listed as a potential carcinogen of the lungs by the IARC
and NTP. Much of the silica is inextricable bound with the particles of activated carbon, and does not present a
substantial health hazard.
Irritancy of Product: Irritating to the eyes, skin and respiratory tract due to activated carbons abrasive properties.
Sensitization to the Product: No sensitization potential of activated carbon is known.
Reproductive Toxicity Information: No reproductive toxicity information is available.
Mutagenicity: No Mutagenicity test information is available.
Embryotoxicity/Teratogenicity/Reproductive Toxicity: No embryo toxic, Teratogenic or reproductive toxic effects are
known.
