Cu-Bor
Cu-Bor is a patented Copper/Boron wood preservative that is used to treat the ground-line
area of standing utility poles. The highly effective active ingredients in Cu-Bor travel deep into
the wood by diffusion (osmotic action). Cu-Bor's labeled uses include: brush-on, spray, dip and
pressure treating. Cu-Bor is also a furnish treatment in engineered wood products and a
railroad tie treatment. Cu-Bor is available in bulk or ready-to-use pouch packaging.

Tenino Copper Naphthenate
Tenino Copper Naphthenate contains 2% (as metal) Copper Naphthenate in oil. This ready-to-
use (r-t-u) solution is conveniently packaged in pint, gallon, five-gallon and drum containers.
Commonly used to treat pole voids, bolt-holes, end-cuts and pole tops. Tenino can be applied
by brush, dip or spray to just about any wood product that needs to be protected from the
elements. Pint bottle packaging, designed for use by utility company personnel, contains
convenient spray tops in each case. Our red internal treatment tank (listed in our tools section)
is also available for applying Tenino. Tenino may be used to fulfill AWPA Standard M-4,

Cu-Nap Concentrate
Copper Naphthenate. Cu-Nap Concentrate (8% Cu as metal) is a liquid wood preservative that
can be diluted with diesel or mineral spirits. It is widely used as a dip treatment for fence posts
using a 24-hour soak. Cu-Nap Concentrate is labeled for the treatment of posts, poles, lumber,
siding, boxes, roof shakes and shingles, fence pickets, landscape timbers, cellulose textiles

Aqua-Nap 5 Concentrate
Aqua-Nap 5 is a water-based Copper Naphthenate Concentrate (5% Cu as metal.) It is widely
used wood preservative that can be used as a roof treatment and for many other wood
products including fence posts. Aqua-Nap 5 is often applied to cedar shake roofs. Pigments
may also be added to make pleasing roof treatment colors. Apply by brush, dip, spray, or

SMDC-FUME
SMDC-FUME (33% Liquid) Metam Sodium in an aqueous-base wood pole fumigant. Applied
internally to standing utility poles, liquid fumigants will greatly increase service life. Three or
four holes are typically drilled into the poles center beginning at 18 inches below ground-line
and rotating 45 degrees around and 18 inches up each time. Liquid fumigants have been
used as internal decay treatments of in service poles for over 30 years and have a proven
track record. SMDC-FUME is offered in one, five, thirty, and fifty-five gallon package sizes

Plugs - Hardwood
Wood preservative treated hardwood plugs. Available in many sizes and lengths these wood
plugs are used to seal treatment and inspection holes. Also used when poles have been
reconfigured and bolt-holes remain exposed. After filling holes with a preservative, the hole
should be sealed with a plug. Wood plug orders will be accepted for quantities of less than
1000 and invoiced at a per piece price. However, a $20 repackaging charge will apply - contact

Field Liners
Biotrans welded field liner pole sleeves are a patented, two part system, that are applied to the
below ground portion of new wooden utility poles, typically applied by pressure treating plants.
Liners are also available in a Slip on Style that can be applied by utility crews just before a new
pole is being set. The liners, originally developed in South Africa, keep valuable wood
preservative in the pole thus extending the poles economic service life. Biotrans field liners
also offer an environmentally friendly solution to the use of treated wood poles in
environmentally sensitive areas. Liners have proven to be a valuable tool in lowering the
amount of original preservative that would normally be needed for full decay and insect
