Method 1618

Organo-halide & Organo-phosphorus Pesticides & Phenoxyacid Herbicides
Method 1618 was developed by the Industrial Technology Division (ITD) within the United States Environmental Protection
Agency’s (US EPA) Office of Water Regulations and Standards (OWRS) to provide improved precision and accuracy of analysis of
pollutants in aqueous and solid matrices in order to determine the level of these pollutants in industrial discharges.
Method 1618 is used with wide bore GC columns to analyze for organo-halide and organo-phosphorus pesticides, phenoxy-acid
herbicides and herbicide esters, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and other compounds amenable to extraction and analysis by
wide bore capillary column gas chromatography with halogen-specific and organo-phosphorus detectors.
The chemical compounds in the AccuStandard mixtures that follow may be determined in waters, soils, sediments and sludges by
this method. The method is a consolidation of EPA Methods 608, 608.1, 614, 615, 617, 622 and 701.

C Ready-to-Inject Working Level Pesticide Standards

Method 1656 is a consolidation of several EPA wastewater Working Level Continuing Calibration Check Standards
methods used to determine the organo-halide pesticides and (CCC) for the 1600 MethodSeries
polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) associated with the Clean AccuStandard has expanded the existing pesticide standard product
Water Act, the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, and line to include the new working level Continuing Calibration Check
the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation Standard Line (CCC Line) for EPA 1600 series methods. The new
and Liability Act; and other compounds amenable to extraction working level (CCC Line) revolutionizes the way the analytical chemist
prepares standards for pesticide analysis:
and analysis by wide-bore capillary column gas
chromatography with a halogen specific detector (HSD). All necessary standards are provided to begin instrument
calibration.
No dilutions are required to make the 3 point curve.

Pharmaceutical Waste Discharge Standards
AccuStandard has formulated the following 1600 series Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Industry (PMI) standards to meet methods
promulgated in 40 CFR part 136. These methods are used to monitor the discharge of pollutants into surface waters of the United
States by the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Industry. The methods can be used to identify and measure purgeable and non-
purgeable volatiles, semi-volatiles, and certain organic pollutants specific to PMI discharge in water, soils, and municipal sludges.
AccuStandard’s PMI standards are formulated at convenient stock and Ready-to-Use concentrations. Further savings can be
achieved by the Analytical Laboratory purchasing the standards in bulk quantities. Contact our Technical Department for a quotation
on those standards available in bulk quantities.
