Product Data Sheet
Nonyl Phenol Nonylphenol
Issued: October 2005
RP: 4075
Introduction Nonylphenol is a reactive alkylphenol modifier that is suitable for use as a component in
formulated amines. Nonylphenol is compatible and can be used in combination with most
amine curing agents (e.g., aliphatic amines, polyamides and cycloaliphatic amines) to adjust
handling characteristics or cured state properties.
Nonylphenol provides an accelerating effect when used at levels of 5-20 phr (per hundred
parts of epoxy resin) and offers improved flexibility when used at higher levels in the curing
agent. The phenolic group in nonylphenol will react with the glycidyl ether group in epoxy
resins to crosslink into the final resin/amine matrix.
