3.Hazards Identification
EMERGENCY OVERVIEW
Vapours are heavier than air and can cause suffocation by reducing oxygen available for breathing. Rapid
evaporation of liquid may cause frostbite. Inhalation of high concentrations of vapour may cause heart irregularities,
short-term narcotic effects (including dizziness, headaches and confusion), unconsciousness or death. Contents
under pressure. Use and store below 52oC/125掳F.
For short and long term exposure effects see Section 11 Toxicological data
Eye Effects: Frostbite or cold burns from contact with liquid.
Skin Effects: Frostbite or cold burns from contact with liquid.
Ingestion/Oral Effects: Ingestion is not considered a route of exposure.
Inhalation Effects: Suffocation and irregular heartbeat - see Emergency Overview above. Concentrations
significantly above the OEL value may cause narcotic effects.

4.First Aid Measures
In case of contact, immediately flush the eye with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes.
Eyes:
Consult a physician.
Flush with water for at least 15 minutes after excessive contact. Treat for frostbite if
Skin:
necessary by gently warming affected area. Call a physician if irritation is present.
Ingestion is not considered a route of exposure.
Ingestion/Oral:
If high concentrations are inhaled remove to fresh air. Keep person calm. If the person is
Inhalation:
not breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Call a physician.
NOTE TO PHYSICIANS :
Other Information:
Because of possible disturbances of cardiac rhythm, catecholamine drugs, such as
epinephrine, should only be used with special caution in situations of emergency life support.
5.Fire Fighting Measures
Extinguishing Media: Any.
鈥? Cylinders may rupture under fire conditions. Therefore cool them with water
Fire and Explosion Hazard:
spray or fog.
鈥? The material is not flammable at temperatures up to 80oC/176oF and at
atmospheric pressure. Data is not available for higher temperatures and
pressures. However, one of the components, HFC-143a is flammable.
Another, HFC-134a, has been shown in tests to be combustible at pressures
as low as 60psig at ambient temperature when mixed with air at concentrations
of 65% by volume. Therefore, the material should not be mixed with air for leak
testing. In general, it should not be used or allowed to be present with high
concentrations of air above atmospheric pressures.
鈥? Decomposition products are hazardous. The material can be decomposed by
high temperatures (open flames, glowing metal surfaces, etc) forming
hydrochloric and hydrofluoric acids, and possibly cabonyl halides.

Special Protective Equipment If cylinders rupture and contents are released under fire conditions, fire fighters
for Fire Fighters: should wear a self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) which meets
appropriate standards operated in positive pressure mode and full turn out gear.
For Flammability Properties - see Section 9
6. Accidental Release Measures
鈥? The material readily evaporates if spilt.
鈥? Safeguards for personnel : review section 5 Fire fighting Measures and section 7 Handling and Storage before
proceeding with clean-up. Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment during clean-up.
鈥? Accidental release measures : ventilate area, especially low or enclosed places where vapours might collect.
Remove open flames. Use self-contained breathing apparatus for large spills or releases.
7. Handling and Storage
Handling : avoid breathing vapour. Avoid liquid contact with eyes and skin. Use with sufficient ventilation to keep
employee exposure below recommended limits.
Storage : store in a clean, dry, well ventilated area.

Personal Protection:
Engineering Measures: Use with sufficient ventilation to keep employee exposure below recommended
limits. Local exhaust should be used if large amounts are released. Mechanical
ventilation should be used in low or enclosed places.
Respiratory Protection: Avoid breathing vapour. Under normal manufacturing conditions, no respiratory
protection is required when using this product. Self-contained breathing apparatus
is required if a large release occurs.
Hand/Skin Protection: Avoid liquid contact with skin. Use rubber gloves.
Eye/Face Protection: Avoid liquid contact with eyes. Use chemical splash goggles.
Hygiene Measures: Employ good workplace hygiene at all times. No smoking.
Other/General Protection: None.
