Lithium Hydroxide, Solution (UN2679) (DOT), UN2679 (DOT), UN2680 (DOT).

II HAZARDOUS INGREDIENTS

CAS #: 1310-66-3

III PHYSICAL DATA

Specific Gravity: 1.510 Appearance: White Crystals

IV FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARDS DATA

Extinguishing Media: Carbon Dioxide, dry chemical powder or appropriate foam.
Special Firefighting Procedures: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective clothing to prevent contact with skin and
eyes.

Unusual Fire and Explosions Hazards: Emits toxic fumes under fire conditions.

V HEALTH HAZARD INFORMATION

Toxicity Data: ihl-Rat LC50: 960 mg/m3/4h
Precautionary Statements: Corrosive, causes burns. Harmful by inhalation, in contact with skin and if swallowed.
Protective Equipment: Wear suitable protective clothing, gloves and eye/face protection.
Toxicological Information: Acute Effects: Harmful if swallowed, inhaled, or absorbed through skin. Material is extremely destruc-
tive to tissue of the mucous membranes and upper respiratory tract, eyes and skin.

Results of Over Exposure:

May be fatal as a result of spasm, inflammation and edema of the larynx and bronchi, chemical pneumonitis and pulmonary
edema. Large doses of Lithium Ion have caused dizziness and prostration, and weight loss, dermatological effects and thyroid
disturbances have been reported. Central nervous system effects that include slurred speech, blurred vision, sensory loss, Ataxia and
convulsions may occur. Diarrhea, vomiting and neuromuscular effects such as tremor, clonus and hyperactive reflexes may occur as a
result of repeated exposure to lithium ion.

Symptoms of Exposure: May include burning sensation, coughing, wheezing, laryngitis, shortness of breath, headache, nausea and
vomiting.

EMERGENCY AND FIRST AID PROCEDURES:

EYES: Immediately flush with copious amounts of water for at least 15 minutes, lift upper and lower lids, seek medical attention.
SKIN: In case of contact, wash with copious amounts of water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and
shoes. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse. Discard contaminated shoes.
INHALATION: In inhaled, remove to fresh air. If not breathing give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen.
Seek medical attention.
INGESTION: If swallowed, wash out mouth with water provided person is conscious. Call physician.
VI REACTIVITY DATA

Incompatibilities: Strong oxidizing agents. Strong acids. Absorbs CO2 form air.
Hazardous Combustion or Decomposition Products: Nature of decomposition products not known.

VII SPILL OR LEAK PROCEDURES

Steps to Be Taken in Case Material Is Released or Spilled: Evacuate Area. Wear self-contained breathing apparatus, rubber boots
and heavy rubber gloves. Sweep up, place in a bag and hold for waste disposal. Ventilate area and wash spill site after material
pickup is complete.

Waste Disposal Method: For small quantities: Cautiously add to a large stirred excess of water. Adjust the pH to neutral, separate
any insoluble solids or liquids and package them for hazardous waste disposal. Flush the aqueous solution down the drain with plenty
of water. The hydrolysis and neutralization reactions may generate heat and fumes which can be controlled the rate of addition.
Observe all Federal, State and Local environmental regulations.

VIII SPECIAL PROTECTION INFORMATION

Exposure Controls/Personal Protection: Wear appropriate NIOSH/MISHA - Approved respirator, chemical - resistant gloves,
safety goggles, other protective clothing. Safety shower and eye bath. Use only in a chemical fume hood. Face shield (8 - inch
minimum).

IX SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS

Other Handling and Storage Conditions:

鈥o not breathe dust.
鈥o not get in eyes, on skin, on clothing.
鈥void prolonged or repeated exposure.
鈥ash thoroughly after handling.
鈥armful solid, Corrosive.
鈥eep tightly closed.
鈥ygroscopic.
鈥tore under nitrogen in a cool, dry place.
