ROUTES OF ABSORPTION
Eye and skin contact, ingestion, inhalation

Warning Statements and Warning Properties
Surface Specialties has not conducted acute oral or skin application toxicity studies on this product and no data were obtained in a
search of the available scientific literature. Results of single exposure (acute) toxicity studies conducted on similar materials
indicate that these products are practically nontoxic orally (rats) and after skin application (rabbits). Due to the variety of solvents
used in these materials, these products have shown irritation which varied form practically non irritating to corrosive to rabbit
skin and slightly to severely irritating to rabbit eyes.

SAFETY DATA

Components
Toluene Irritation to eyes. Risk of serious damage to eyes. Irritation to respiratory system. The vapor has a
narcotic effect. This may cause dizziness, light-headedness, rapid breathing, anxiety, loss of clear thinking,
loss of consciousness or death. Moderately irritating to skin. Repeated contact may cause a drying, solvent
like action on the skin. Practically nontoxic after skin application in animal studies. Repeated oral
exposure produced liver and kidney changes in animal models. Repeated oral administration produced
multiple systemic effects. Repeated inhalation exposure produced multiple organ effects. Produced birth
defects in animals. Effects on offspring only observed with maternal toxicity. The weight of the evidence
indicates that this material is not mutagenic in-vitro. The weight of the evidence indicates that this material
is not mutagenic in-vivo. Chronic exposure to animals produced to increase in tumor incidence.
1-Methyl-2- Moderately toxic following oral administration. Moderately toxic based on animal inhalation exposure
Pyrrolidone studies. Moderately irritation to eyes (rabbit) Repeated skin exposure produced irritation in animal
studies. Repeated inhalation exposure produced multiple systemic effects. Excessive exposure may cause
dizziness, confusion, nausea and loss of consciousness. Produced developmental toxicity.

SIGNS, SYMPTOMS AND EFFECTS OF EXPOSURE

Inhalation
Acute: If inhaled, may cause irritation to the upper respiratory tract. Any irritation would be transient
with no permanent damage expected. Inhalation of high concentrations may cause headache,
dizziness, drowsiness, nausea and death.
Chronic: Prolonged or repeated inhalation of this product may cause allergic respiratory sensitization.

Skin
Acute: Skin contact may produce mild irritation consisting of transient redness. This irritant effect would
not result in permanent damage.
Chronic: Since liquid material may be absorbed through the skin, prolonged or repeated contact may result
in absorption of harmful amounts. Prolonged or repeated skin contact may cause dermatitis.
Repeated or prolonged skin contact may also cause some individuals to develop skin rash or other
skin complications due to allergic skin sensitization.

Eye
Contact with the eyes would be expected to cause irritation consisting of reversible redness, swelling, tearing, and mucous
discharge to the conjunctiva. Blurred vision may occur.

Ingestion
Acute: No data is available on the effects of acute ingestion of this product. However, ingestion may
cause gastrointestinal discomfort with any or all of the following symptoms: nausea, lethargy or
diarrhea.
Chronic: There are no known or reported effects from chronic exposure

MEDICAL CONDITIONS AGGRAVATED BY EXPOSURE
Skin
Skin contact may aggravate any existing dermatitis

INTERACTIONS WITH OTHER CHEMICALS WHICH ENHANCE TOXICITY
None known or reported
