SECTION 3 HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION
NFPA RATINGS (SCALE 0-4)
HEALTH FIRE REACTIVITY
1 1 0
Hazard Rating : 0=Insignificant, 1=Slight, 2=Moderate, 3=High, 4=Extreme

EMERGENCY OVERVIEW: If ignited by excessive heat or open flame, the product will burn. During fire
conditions fumes are irritating to eyes and respiratory tract.
CHANGE IN APPEARANCE: Solid
COLOR: Dark brown
PHYSICAL FORM: Flammable polymer
ODOR: Slight
MAJOR HEALTH HAZARDS: NE

POTENTIAL HEALTH EFFECTS
INHALATION:
SHORT TERM EFFECTS: NE
LONG TERM EFFECTS: NE
SKIN CONTACT:
SHORT TERM EFFECTS: Fumes generated during processing may be irritating to the eyes and respiratory
system.
LONG TERM EFFECTS: The processing oils in the stock could be released from the surface through skin
contact. Prolonged contact with untreated naphthenic / paraffinic and aromatics oils caused skin cancer in
laboratory animals, when applied over a-two-year period. Some epidemiology studies have shown an excess in
cancer rate for works exposed to unrefined mineral oils. Untreated naphthenic / paraffinic and aromatics oils are
classified as carcinogenic to humans by IARC.

SECTION 4 FIRST AID MEASURES
GENERAL FIRST AID: No procedures are expected to be required for handling of rubber stock.

INHALATION: If overcome by exposure, remove victim to fresh air.

SKIN CONTACT: NE

EYE CONTACT: For irritation, flush eyes with copious amounts of water.

FLAMMABILITY CLASS (OSHA): NE
EXTINGUISHING MEDIA: Water, all purpose (ABC) dry chemical, CO2, form.
FIREFIGHTING: During emergency conditions, overexposure to thermal decomposition products may cause
a health hazard. An approved self-contained breathing apparatus should be worm.
HAZARDOUS COMBUSTION PRODUCTS: Not easily ignited. However, when ignited , and particularly
in bulk storage, a hot and difficult to control fire may develop. This material emits acrid smoke and fumes when
burning.
SECTION 6 ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
OCCUPATIONAL SPILL: Sweep, shovel up, reuse material .

SECTION 7 HANDLING AND STORAGE
Store in a cool dry place away from excessive heat or open flame.

SECTION 8 EXPOSURE CONTROLS, PERSONAL PROTECTION
EXPOSURE LIMITS: NE
VENTILATION: There should be enough fresh air flowing past the user to maintain exposure levels below
listed.
EYE PROTECTION: Safety glasses
CLOTHING: NE
GLOVES: Heavy cotton or impervious if practical.
RESPIRATOR: Under normal conditions of use, respiratory protection should not be required.
