Irritating to eyes, mucous membranes, possibly to skin. Harmful or fatal if swallowed or
inhaled. LD 50 (oral-rat) 98 mg/kg. OSHA PEL ceiling: 0.1 mg (V 2O 5)/m 3 (fume); 0.5 mg (V 2O 5)/m 3
(respirable fraction); ACGIH TLV TWA: 0.05 mg (V 2O 5)/m 3. Vanadium compounds have been
investigated as reproductive effectors, mutagens and teratogens. No evidence of carcinogenicity.
The chemical, physical and toxicological properties have not been fully investigated.
SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS
Wear goggles and rubber gloves while handling. If dust is present, use suitable ventilation or
respirator to avoid inhalation.
FIRST AID
Wash skin and eyes thoroughly with water after contact. If irritation persists, see a physician.
If swallowed, give water to drink and get immediate medical attention. Do not induce vomiting
unless directed by a physician.
SPILLS & LEAKS
Sweep with absorbent. Wash area well with water. Disposal to hazardous waste. Consult local
regulations before disposal.
