Incompatible with cyanides, sulfides and formaldehyde.
FIRE HAZARDS
Will volatilize in general fire. Reacts with metals to form flammable hydrogen gas. Releases
corrosive gas when heated. Do not inhale fumes. Firefighters wear SCBA. NFPA # 3-0-2.

HEALTH HAZARDS
Corrosive and irritating to eyes, skin and mucous membranes. Inhalation may cause throat and
lung damage. Swallowing will cause burns to mouth, throat, and stomach. Causes permanent eye
damage. Toxicity is not the main hazard from the material. LC 50 (Inh-rat) 3124 ppm (HCl - 1
hour); LD 50 (oral-rat) 900 mg (HCl)/kg. OSHA TLV/ACGIH PEL: 5 ppm (HCl - ceiling).
SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS
Wear goggles and protective clothing and rubber gloves while handling. Use only in proper hood
or with suitable respirator to avoid inhalation of fumes. Eye wash and emergency drench shower
required in work area.
FIRST AID
Wash skin and eyes thoroughly with water. Get medical attention. If inhaled, remove to fresh
air. If breathing is difficult give oxygen, if not breathing, use respiration. Get medical
assistance. If ingested, give water to drink, ice to suck. Do not induce vomiting. Get medical
attention.
SPILLS & LEAKS
Isolate spill area. Ventilate well and neutralize with soda or lime. Flush neutralized spill
to sewer with plenty of water.
