3. Hazards Identification
Health: Inhalation of mist and vapors may irritate the nose, throat, and lungs.
May cause irritation to the eyes, characterized by a burning sensation,
redness, and excessive watering.
Ingestion may cause slight stomach irritation and discomfort.
Ingestion of this product may cause nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.
Overexposure may cause central nervous system depression.

Physical and Chemical Hazards: Contents under pressure.
Container may explode if heated.


4. First-Aid Measures
Inhalation: If gas/fume/vapor/dust/mist from the material is inhaled, remove the
affected person immediately to fresh air.
If irritation persists, get medical attention.

Skin Contact: Wash skin with soap and water.

Eye Contact: In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water for
at least 15 minutes and seek medical attention.
If irritation persists, get medical attention.

Ingestion: If the material is swallowed, get immediate medical attention or advice
-- Do not induce vomiting.

Most Important Symptoms Effects: Headache, dizziness, nausea, and loss of coordination are indications
of excessive exposure to vapors or spray mists.

Notes to a Physician: If the affected person is not breathing, apply artificial respiration.


5. Fire-Fighting Measures
Extinguishing Media: Use any media suitable for the surrounding fires.

Specific Methods: Use water to cool fire-exposed containers, structures, and to protect
personnel.

Specific Hazards: Due to pressure buildup, closed containers exposed to excess heat
may explode.
This product is not combustible but may enhance the combustion of
other substances.
Upon decomposition, this product emits carbon monoxide, carbon
dioxide and/or low molecular weight hydrocarbons.
Decomposition of this product may yield oxides of nitrogen upon
decomposition.

Protection of Firefighters: Fire fighters should be equipped with NIOSH-approved, self-contained
breathing apparatus (SCBA) and full protective clothing.


6. Accidental Release Measures
Personal Precautions: Wear appropriate protective equipment and clothing during clean-up.

Environmental Precautions: Do not allow the spilled product to enter public drainage system or
open water courses.

Methods for Cleaning Up: Stop the flow of material, if this is without risk.
Contain the discharged material.
Absorb the spilled material with an inert absorbent (nonflammable)
material.
Recover liquids by pumping (use an explosion proof or hand pump if
recovering flammable liquids).
In case of large spills, follow all facility Emergency Response
Procedures.

Personal Protective Equipment:

None required under normal conditions.
Respiratory Protection:
If engineering controls do not maintain airborne concentrations to a
level which is adequate to protect worker health, an approved
respirator must be worn. Respirator selection, use and maintenance
should be in accordance with the requirements of OSHA Respiratory
Protection Standard 29 CFR 1910.134 and/or Canadian Standard
CSA Z94.4.

The use of natural rubber gloves is recommended.

reproductive toxin and an experimental teratogen. In laboratory animal
teratology studies on 2-Butoxyethanol, no embryotoxicity or lethality
was observed without maternal effects (concentrations 100-300 ppm.)
These studies do not establish a risk of birth defects in humans. The
results of in-vitro mutagenicity tests have been inconclusive. In-vitro
mutagenicity tests for 2-Butoxyethanol have been negative.
