SECTION 6 - TOXICOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
ROUTE OF ENTRY
INGESTION
INHALATION
SKIN CONTACT SKIN ABSORPTION EYE CONTACT
EFFECTS OF ACUTE EXPOSURE TO PRODUCT
Hazardous in case of skin contact (irritant), of eye contact (irritant), of ingestion, of inhalation (lung irritant).
Prolonged exposure may result in skin burns and ulcerations. Over-exposure by inhalation may cause respiratory
irritation.
Skin: Causes skin irritation.
Eyes: Causes eye irritation.
Inhalation: Causes respiratory tract (nose, throat) irritation with coughing and wheezing. May cause methemoglobinemia
(an increase of formation of methemoglobin in the blood resulting of deficient oxygenation of blood/decreased available
hemoglobin), cyanosis (bluish discoloration of skin due to deficient oxygenation of the blood). May affect
behavior/central nervous system (convulsions, etc.), cardiovascular system (tachycardia, bradycardia, vasodilation,
hypotension), respiration (labored breathing).
Ingestion: Can cause gastroenteritis, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea. Can also cause methemoglobinemia,
cyanosis, pallor, labored breathing/shortness of breath (dyspnea). It may also affect behavior/central nervous system
(central nervous system depression, convulsions/seizures, headache, weakness, dizziness, loss of coordination and
judgment, fatigue, unconsciousness).
EFFECTS OF CHRONIC EXPOSURE TO PRODUCT
The substance may be toxic to blood, liver.
Repeated or prolonged exposure to the substance can produce target organs damage.
May cause damage to the following organs: blood, liver.
Hazardous in case of skin contact (irritant), of ingestion, of inhalation (lung irritant).
May affect genetic material (mutagenic)
Ingestion: May cause methemoglobinemia which is characterized by chocolate-brown colored blood, headache,
weakness, dizziness, loss of coordination and judgment, shortness of breath, cyanosis, rapid heart rate, unconsciousness
and possible death. May also affect the liver/cause liver damage due to iron build up in the body. Symptoms of iron build-
up in the body may include nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, constipation, and black bowel movements.
Eyes: Prolonged contact may cause a brownish discoloration of the eyes.

ENGINEERING CONTROLS (SPECIFY eg. VENTILATION, ENCLOSED PROCESS)
Use process enclosures, local exhaust ventilation, or other engineering controls to keep airborne levels below
recommended exposure limits. If user operations generate dust, fume or mist, use ventilation to keep exposure to
airborne contaminants below the exposure limit.
LEAK AND SPILL PROCEDURE
Use appropriate tools to put the spilled solid in a convenient waste disposal container. Finish cleaning by spreading
water on the contaminated surface.
WASTE DISPOSAL
According to local, provincial, and federal regulations.

HANDLING PROCEDURES AND EQUIPMENT
Keep away from heat. Keep away from sources of ignition. Keep away from combustible material.. Do not ingest. Do not
breathe dust. Wear suitable protective clothing. In case of insufficient ventilation, wear suitable respiratory equipment. If
ingested, seek medical advice immediately and show the container or the label. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Keep
away from incompatibles such as reducing agents.
STORAGE REQUIREMENTS
Keep container tightly closed. Keep container in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area. Separate from acids, alkalies,
reducing agents and combustibles. See NFPA 43A, Code for the Storage of Liquid and Solid Oxidizers. Container may
be hazardous when empty since they retain product residues (Dust, Solids) observe all warnings and precautions listed
for the product.
SPECIAL SHIPPING INFORMATION
DOT CLASS 5.1: Oxidizing material. CLASS C: Oxidizing material.
SECTION 8 - FIRST AID MEASURES
SPECIFIC MEASURES
In case of contact, immediately flush skin with plenty of water. Cover the irritated skin with an
SKIN
emollient. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Cold water may be used. Wash clothing
before reuse. Thoroughly clean shoes before reuse. Get medical attention.
Eye Contact Check for and remove any contact lenses. In case of contact, immediately flush eyes

oxygen. Get medical attention.
INGESTION Do NOT induce vomiting unless directed to do so by medical personnel. Never give anything by
mouth to an unconscious person. Loosen tight clothing such as collar, tie, belt or waistband. Get
medical attention if symptoms appear.
IF IRRITATION PERSISTS AND IN ALL OTHER CASES, GET IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ATTENTION.
