Effects of Exposure:

Acute E ffects:

Inhalation: May irritate respiratory system.
Ingestion: Ingestion of large amounts of lithium ion may cause vomiting, diarrhea, ataxia, intestinal irritation, kidney injury, CNS
depression and dro p in blood pressure. Central nervous system effects may include slurred speech, blurred vision, dizziness, sensory
loss, convulsions and stupor.
Skin : May cause irritation.
Eye: May cause irritation.
Chro nic Effects: Chronic intake of lithium ion may cause neuromuscular effects such as tremor, ataxia, weakness, clonus and
hyperactive reflexes. Lithium ion can cause kidney dam age, gastro intestinal disturban ces, fatigue, deh ydration , weigh t loss,
dermatological effects and thyroid disturbances. Lithium ion has shown teratogenic effects in rats and mice. Chronic fluorine
poison ing can cause sev ere bone cha nges, loss of w eight, ano rexia, anem ia and d ental defec ts.

EMERG ENCY AND FIRST AID PROCEDURES:

INHALATION: Remove to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. Call a physician immediately.
INGESTION: No data available but one should obtain medical attention.
SK IN: Remove contaminated clothing, flood with large amounts of water. If irritation persists seek medical attention.
EYE: Imm ediately flush eyes, including under eyelids, with large amounts of water for at least 15 minutes. Call a physician.

shower and hygienic facilities for washing.
