V HEALTH HAZARD INFORMATION
Effects of Over Expo sure:
To the best of our knowledge the acute and chronic toxicity of molybdenum carbonyl has not been thoroughly investigated
and reported.
Acute m olyb den um poiso ning ma y cau se severe gastroin testinal irritation, diarrhe a, com a and death from cardiac failure.
Chronic molybdenum poisoning in laboratory animals has caused loss of weight, anorexia, anemia, deficient lactation, male sterility,
osteoporosis and bone joint abnorm alities.
Carbonyl compoun ds are toxic due to decomposition yielding carbon mo noxide. Symptoms include asphyxia, headache,
me ntal co nfusion, d izziness, imp airm ent of vision and hearing, and fainting . High exposures can result in unco nscio usness and death
due to th e inability of he mo globin to carry oxygen to the tissues.
Acute E ffects:
Inhalation: Toxic by inhalation.
Ingestion: Toxic by ingestion.
Skin : Irritating to skin and mucous mem branes
Eye: Irritating
Carcino genicity: No data found
EMERG ENCY AND FIRST AID PROCEDURES:
