as
classificationwas basedon the fact that the evidencefrom human,as well as anumal, studies

At present.there is a preponderance evidencewhich supportsthe lack of adversehealth
of
effects of inhaled FIBROUS GLASS DUST. Currently there appears be no epidemiologic
to
evidenceof an associationbetweenfibrous glassexposurein the workplace and lung tumors
in man. However. despitethe accumulatingevidencefor the relative biologic inertness of
Inhaled fibrous glassdust and the resultsof recentapldemlologicstudiesin which no
evidencewas found that the inhalation of fibrous glassdust was associatedwith
carcinogenesis, concernwith regardto the possiblesignificanceto man of the ratfiber
carclnogensis experiments(discussed below) remains.
REPORTED ANIMAL EFFECTS:
Asia Chemical Corp. and the supplier of the resin usedin the manufactureof this
laminatehave not conductedany animal testing with this product.

The results of two-year inhalation studiesin severalspecies have indicatedthat FIBROUS
GLASS DUST causedno pulmonary fibrosis(lung scarring)and only minimal macrophage
reaction (a nonnal defenseresponse a soild foreign body in the lung) In spite ofthe fact
to
that dust concentrations were greaterthan 10-timesthe recommended V. On the other
TL
hand.when fibrous glasswas injected into the trachea,an Inflammation reaction occurred.
Additionally, when very thin and long fibers(O.5urn x 10 um)were injected into the body
cavity of rats of implanted into the chestof rats. sarcomas in someinstances
and
mesotheHomas developed(theseare both types ofturnors),this response was doserelated
The relevanceof theseratfiber carcinogenesis experiments man hasbeendisputedon
