3. Hazard Identification

Appearance and Odor: White milky liquid with a sweet odor.
Primary Health Hazards: Slight irritation to eyes and skin. Polymers are typically made up of high
molecular weight compounds (1000 MW or greater) and are unlikely to cross biological membranes
and cause systemic toxicity. Dermal exposure is expected to be the primary route of exposure.
Inhalation is not expected to be a significant route of exposure, however, inhalation of high volume of
mist or vapor can cause irritation of nose, throat and lungs.
Primary Route(s) of Exposure:
Ingestion: Not a likely source of exposure. This product is not intended to be ingested. Ingestion
could result in stomach cramps, nausea, or vomiting and act as a laxative. However, the
component materials are not known to be toxic.
Skin: Mild irritant, brief direct contact is harmless. Prolonged and/or repeated contact may cause
irritation, redness, burning, drying and cracking of the skin.
Inhalation: Not a likely source of exposure. This product is not known to be an inhalation hazard.
Where fogs or mists are created, the product may cause irritation.
Eye: Brief direct contact may cause irritation. Prolonged and/or repeated contact may cause
irritation or possible burns.

conscious/alert. Do not induce vomiting unless directed to do so by medical personnel. Seek
medical attention if symptoms develop. Provide copy of this MSDS to medical personnel.
Eye Contact: Flush with water to remove. Seek medical attention if irritation or discomfort persists.

5. Fire and Explosion Data

Flash Point (Method Used) : > 232掳F SCC 鈥? considered noncombustible
LFL = NAP UFL = NAP
Flammable Limits:
Extinguishing Media: Water, dry chemical, carbon dioxide.
Autoignition Temperature: NAP
Special Firefighting Procedures: Self-contained breathing apparatus and protective clothing should be
worn in chemical fires. Water may be ineffective, serving only to spread product, but may be used to
cool containers.
Unusual Fire and Explosion Hazards: Material is aqueous and is not expected to burn. If heated to
dryness, the remaining organic polymers and pigments, although difficult to ignite, will burn as a class
III B fire. It is recommended that containers be tightly closed and isolated from heat, electrical
equipments and flame. A closed container could possible explode when exposed to extreme heat.

NFPA Rating (Scale 0-4):

6. Accidental Release Measures

Steps to be Taken In Case Material Is Released or Spilled: Dike and contain spill with absorbent
material such as clay or other commercially available material. Place in container for disposal. Wear
safety glasses and chemical-resistant gloves to minimize exposure.

7. Handling and Storage

Precautions to be Taken In Handling and Storage: Follow standard industrial practices when handling
this product or empty containers. Avoid getting product on skin, eyes, or clothing. If contact with the
product occurs, remove effected clothing and wash with soap and water. Store in a cool, dry, well-
ventilated area away from incompatible materials. Avoid excessive hot or cold temperatures. Keep
containers tightly closed when not in use.

8. Exposure Control Measures, Personal Protection

Personal Protective Equipment:
RESPIRATORY PROTECTION 鈥? Under normal conditions of use, respiratory protection is not required.
If a fog or mist is produced, use NIOSH/MSHA approved respirator with organic vapor absorbing
cartridges. The respirator program must comply with OSHA and ANSI standards.
EYE PROTECTION 鈥? Chemical safety glasses recommended.
PROTECTIVE GLOVES 鈥? Chemically-resistant gloves are recommended.
OTHER PROTECTIVE CLOTHING OR EQUIPMENT 鈥? Eye wash station.
WORK/HYGIENE PRACTICES 鈥? Wash hands before eating, drinking, or smoking, and at the end of the
shift.
Ventilation:
LOCAL EXHAUST 鈥? Provide local exhaust as needed to limit exposure.
MECHANICAL (GENERAL) 鈥? Provide general ventilation in processing and storage areas to limit
exposures.
SPECIAL 鈥? None
OTHER 鈥? None

11. Toxicological Information

Toxicity Data: None available for product in purchased form. The information available is based on the
toxicity profiles of a number of acrylic emulsions that are similar in composition to the acrylic polymer
of this product. Oral LD50 - rat: > 5000 mg/kg Dermal LD50 - rabbit: > 5000 mg/kg, Skin irritation -
rabbit practically non-irritating. Eye irritation 鈥? rabbit: inconsequential irritation.
Components: NAV
Target Organs: Not available for product in purchased form.

12. Ecological Information

Environmental Fate: Because the acrylic is chemically stable and non-toxic, it does not degrade into
harmful products. This product in purchased form has not been tested. However, the physical and
chemical nature of the product and toxicological data on ingredients indicate that this product is of
relatively low risk. No bioaccumulation of the polymer is expected because of the very large
molecular size which is likely to inhibit membrane permeability and prevent uptake during exposure.
Environmental Toxicity: None available for product in purchased form.

13. Disposal Considerations

Waste Disposal Method: Check with your local sewer authority before disposing to sewer. This
material is not RCRA hazardous waste. In liquid form, this product may be determined to be a
鈥渟pecial鈥? waste. Dispose of material in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
