    3.   HAZARD IDENTIFICATION 
                                           Hydrogen tetrabromoaurate is acidic in nature and will be corosive to the 
                                           eyes and mucous membranes. Skin contact will produce a purple stain and 
                                           will cause damage and possible corrosion to the epidermis. 
                                           If heated this material will decompose, producing Bromine and Hydrogen 
                                           bromide 聽 
 
    4.   FIRST AID MEASURES 
                                           Over-exposure may produce the following symptoms - 
         First Aid 
                                           Inhalation - irritating to the eyes, nose, throat and respiratory tract, producing 
                                           coughing. 
                                           Ingestion - nausea and vomiting. 
                                           Eye contact - redness, irritation, blurred vision and pain. 
                                           Skin - redness and irritation with possible tissue damage. 聽 聽 
 
                                           remove from exposure and allow to rest in fresh air. Seek medical advice. 聽 
         First Aid - Inhalation 
         First Aid - Ingestion             rinse mouth with clean water and give water or milk to drink. Seek medical 
                                           attention.

                                           conditions of good local ventilation. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Do not

                                           material. If a risk of inhalation exists, users should wear an appropriate filter

                                           Suitable eye protection and chemical resistant gloves should be worn. Vapour

                                           this material comes into contact with Ammonia or ammonium salts as Gold 
                                           fulminate which, is a heat, friction or impact sensitive explosive may be 
                                           formed. 
                                           If exposed to air, this material will absorb moisture and may coalesce into a 
                                           hard lump.

                                           There is no specific toxicological data available for this material. The data 
                                           available for similar halogeno-gold compounds indicate that the oral toxicity is 
                                           expected to be within the range 500 - 2000 mg/kg, i.e. Harmful. 
                                           Users should note that the chloro analogue is reported as causing mutagenic 
                                           effects in bacteria.
