3. HAZARD IDENTIFICATION
This material does not present an acute health hazard. However, in common
with other finely divided precious metals, it possesses a potential catalytic
effect and will promote the oxidation and subsequent ignition of flammable
liquids and vapours.
4. FIRST AID MEASURES
As supplied, this material does not present an acute hazard. As a dust,
First Aid
inhalation may cause irritation of the respiratory tract. Eye contact will
produce mechanical irritation. 聽 聽
remove from exposure and allow to rest in fresh air. Seek medical advice if

First Aid - Skin
5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES
This material is not combustible. If involved in a fire and dispersed, it will
present a significant hazard potential for the ignition of flammable vapours
and liquids.
Fire fighters should use any extinguishing agent appropriate to the
surrounding fire. 聽
6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
Remove or eliminate all sources of flammable liquids or vapours. Collect up
spillage and store in a sealed container for re-use or disposal. 聽 聽
7. HANDLING AND STORAGE
Good industrial hygiene practices should be observed. Do not eat, drink,

This material is supplied in a stable condition. The major reactive hazard of
this material are the catalytic properties, which will readily promote the
oxidation and potential ignition of flammable liquids and vapours. 聽
11. TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION
LDLO 5250 mg/kg (implant - rat): TDLO 23000 mg/kg (imp - mouse).
Platinum metal is practically non-toxic. If ionised platinum halogen complexes
are prepared from platinum metal, they are likely to be allergenic.
If sensitised and re-exposed, the subject may show symptoms of rhinitis,
conjunctivitis, asthma and contact dermatitis. Ensure no further exposure.
12. ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION
No ecological hazards are known and this material is not thought to present a
significant hazard.
13. DISPOSAL
Return accumulated waste material to the refinery for metal recovery, or
dispose of in accordance with local and national regulations. 聽
