Clear, colorless liquid. Freezes if cool (below 62掳F). Pungent odor similar to vinegar.
REACTIVITY & CONDITIONS TO AVOID
Stable. Incompatible with oxidizers. Does not undergo any spontaneous self-reaction.
FIRE HAZARDS
Burns readily, especially when heated. Firefighters wear SCBA. NFPA # 2-2-0.

HEALTH HAZARDS
Irritating to skin, eyes and mucous membranes, can cause severe burns. Harmful if swallowed or
inhaled. LD 50 (oral-rat) 3310 mg/kg; LC 50 (inhl-rat) 5620 ppm/1 hour. OSHA PEL/ACGIH TLV TWA: 10
ppm; ACGIH STEL 15 ppm. Has been investigated as a mutagen and reproductive effector. No
evidence of carcinogenicity.
SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS
Wear goggles and rubber gloves when handling. Use with good ventilation. Must have eye wash and
water supply available.
FIRST AID
Wash contact area thoroughly with water. For eyes, get medical attention after washing. If
ingested, give water or milk to drink and get medical attention. For inhalation remove to fresh
air. If breathing is difficult give oxygen.
SPILLS & LEAKS
Ventilate area. Neutralize spill with soda or lime. Wash up with water. Disposal of neutralized
solution to sanitary drain or to incinerator. Check local regulations.
