Not flammable. Reacts with metals to form flammable hydrogen gas. Releases corrosive gas when

HEALTH HAZARDS
Corrosive and irritating to skin, eyes, mucous membranes. Swallowing will cause burns to mouth,
throat, and stomach. Causes permanent eye damage. Harmful if swallowed. LC 50 (Inh-rat) 3124 ppm
(HCl - 1 hour); LD 50 (oral-rat) 900 mg HCl/kg. OSHA PEL: 5 ppm HCl (ceiling); ACGIH TLV: 2 ppm
HCl (ceiling). No evidence of carcinogenicity.
SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS
Wear goggles and rubber gloves while handling. Use only in proper hood or with suitable
respirator to avoid inhalation of fumes. Eye wash and emergency drench shower required in work
area.
FIRST AID
Wash contact area thoroughly with water. If eye irritation persists, see a physician. If
swallowed, give water or milk, DO NOT induce vomiting. Call a physician.
SPILLS & LEAKS
Contain spill. Take up with absorbent such as sand with soda ash to neutralize. Flush
neutralized spill to sewer with plenty of water. Check local regulations.
