REACTIVITY & CONDITIONS TO AVOID
Stable. Flammable, avoid oxidizers, ignition sources, heat.

FIRE HAZARDS
Flammable, will release toxic compounds when burning. Wear self-contained breathing apparatus
and protective clothing.

HEALTH HAZARDS
Toxic by ingestion or inhalation. Causes lethargy, headache, gastrointestinal upset, anemia,
damage to CNS, kidney, liver and blindness. Principal routes of absorption: dermal, inhalation,
oral. Chloroform is listed as a suspect carcinogen by NTP. OSHA PEL/ACGIH TLV TWA: 200 ppm;
ACGIH TLV STEL 250 ppm (methyl alcohol); OSHA PEL (ceiling) 50 ppm, ACGIH TLV TWA 2 ppm
(chloroform); OSHA PEL TWA 5 ppm, ACGIH TLV TWA 2 ppm, STEL 5 ppm (sulfur dioxide). Warning:
This product contains a chemical (chloroform) known to the state of California to cause cancer.

SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS
Goggles, rubber gloves must be worn. Use in well ventilated hood. Store at room temperature (15-
30掳C). Keep containers tightly closed.

FIRST AID
Eyes, skin: Wash with water for at least 15 minutes. If irritation persists, get medical
attention. Inhalation: Remove to fresh air, call physician. Ingestion: Give water to drink and
get immediate medical attention. Do NOT induce vomiting unless directed by a physician.

SPILLS & LEAKS
Eliminate ignition sources, take up with absorbent. Dispose by incineration or other method in
accordance with all local, state, and federal regulations.

(iodine). Experimental mutagenic, teratogenic and reproductive effects. Warning: This product
contains a chemical (2-methoxyethanol) known to the state of California to cause birth defects
or other reproductive harm.

HEALTH HAZARDS
Irritating to skin, eyes and on inhalation. Toxic effects on CNS, narcotic properties. Toxic
internally LD 50 (oral-rat) 5628 mg/kg; LC 50 (inhal-rat) 64,000 ppm/4 H. 50-250 ml is fatal dose
to humans. Smaller doses may cause blindness. Other symptoms include dizziness, blurring of
vision, headaches, nausea, unconsciousness and intoxication. May be absorbed through the skin.
OSHA PEL/ACGIH TLV: TWA: 200 ppm. ACGIH STEL 250 ppm. No evidence of carcinogenicity.

SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS
Wear goggles and rubber gloves while handling. Use with good ventilation. Keep away from
ignition sources.

FIRST AID
Wash skin and eyes thoroughly with water. Get medical assistance if irritation develops.
Inhalation: remove to fresh air. If swallowed, give water to drink and get immediate medical
assistance. Do NOT induce vomiting unless directed by a physician.

SPILLS & LEAKS
Take up spill in absorbent and incinerate. Wash up with water. Small amounts may be disposed
of to sanitary drain. Check local regulations.
