Clear, colorless liquid. May have odor of hydrofluoric acid (don't sniff).

Emits very toxic fumes when heated to decomposition. Avoid all contact with skin, eyes and
internally.
FIRE HAZARDS
Decomposes in fire to yield toxic fumes. Firefighters wear SCBA and full protective gear.

HEALTH HAZARDS
May be corrosive and irritating to skin and eyes. Irritation effects may be delayed. Poisonous
internally; LD 50 (oral-rat) 52 mg (NaF)/kg. Internal effects: nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain,
human lethal dose 5-10 grams of sodium fluoride. OSHA PEL/ACGIH TLV: TWA 2.5 mg (F)/m 3. No
evidence of carcinogenicity.
SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS
Use only in a good hood. Wear protective goggles or face shield. Use rubber or vinyl gloves.
Avoid all physical contact with liquid or fumes.
FIRST AID
Wash contact area thoroughly with water. Apply calcium gluconate salve liberally to contact
area. Observe contact area for delayed effects. See a physician. For eyes, wash thoroughly with
water and get immediate medical attention. If swallowed, give milk and calcium-based antacid
such as Tums. Get immediate medical attention.
SPILLS & LEAKS
Neutralize spill with lime and wash up thoroughly with water. Disposal to landfill. Very small
quantities of neutralized waste to sanitary drain.
