REACTIVITY & CONDITIONS TO AVOID
Not a reactive hazard. Roasting with sulfuric acid will release hydrofluoric acid.
FIRE HAZARDS
Extremely high temperatures may cause decomposition with evolution of fluorine. Avoid
inhalation. Firefighters wear SCBA.

HEALTH HAZARDS
Dust will irritate eyes. Considered toxic when inhaled. Occupational exposure standard. TWA:
Air: 2.5 mg (F)/m 3. Not considered toxic orally. No evidence of carcinogenicity. Symptoms of
chronic over exposure to fluorides-fluorosis, mottling of tooth enamel,sclerosis of bones (can
be seen with x-ray). May cause severe bone changes, pain in joints. May cause pulmonary
fibrosis, loss of weight, anorexia and dental defects.
SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS
Wear goggles while handling. Use adequate ventilation or suitable respirator to avoid inhalation
of dust.
FIRST AID
Wash skin and eyes thoroughly with water after contact. For inhalation, remove to fresh air and
seek medical attention.
SPILLS & LEAKS
Sweep up for reclamation if possible. Avoid formation of dusts by wetting with water. Disposal
to solid waste.
