SECTION 4 - TOXICOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
NATURE OF HAZARD
INHALATION: The prolonged inhalation of dust may result in irritation of nasal tissue. Contamination of the
eyes can cause irritation. Certain people may develop allergic dermatitis upon excessive exposure.

EYE CONTACT: May Irritate. No permanent damage likely.
SKIN CONTACT: Will dry skin and cause defatting dermatitis with excessive exposure of skin to dry and wet
product.
INGESTION: Can cause irritation to throat.
CHRONIC: The sand used in this product contains quartz. Quartz (Crystalline Silica) that exists as particles
with an aerodynamic diameter less than 5 Microns is hazardous. Although this product does not contain these fine
particles a dust mask should be worn when handling product in the dry state.
OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMIT: Maximum TWA of silica (for particles 5 Micron and smaller) is 0.1 mg.
per M3 of air. For further information of the designated substance "Silica" contact the Ministry of Labour
(Occupational Health and Safety Division) in your region.
SECTION 5 - FIRST AID MEASURES
INHALATION: Remove to fresh air.
EYE CONTACT: Flush eye(s) with lukewarm water for 15 minutes holding eyelids open. If irritation persists
see physician.
INGESTION: Will irritate throat. Give individual water and see physician.
SKIN: Wash hands with soap and water. Apply good quality hand lotion. If irritation persists see physician.
SECTION 6 - PREVENTIVE MEASURES
PERSONAL PROTECTION: Wear safety glasses (with side shields), waterproof PVC or Neoprene gloves and
an approved dust mask when handling the product. Observe good personal hygiene. No engineering controls
necessary.
HANDLING STORAGE AND SHIPPING: Product must be stored under dry conditions. May be stored off the
ground and under waterproof tarp in the field for short periods of time. DO NOT ALLOW product to get wet as it
will harden.
SPILL CONTROL AND DISPOSAL: Sweep area with dust retarding floor sweeping compound. Dispose of as
normal garbage. No special precautions required.
SECTION 7 - FIRE AND EXPLOSION DATA
None. This product will not burn.
SECTION 8 - REACTIVITY DATA
Stable. Hazardous decomposition will not occur.
