From information derived from our raw materials suppliers, as far as we are aware,
there are no known hazards to health and safety posed by the product. This is
provided that the product is used for its intended purpose and in accordance with the
recommendations in this document.
2) BURNING BEHAVIOUR
In common with most other textile materials, nonwoven fabrics are readily
combustible when brought into contact with excessive heat or naked flame and will
produce gaseous products which are harmful and should not be inhaled.
Thermoplastic materials, which include fabrics and some packaging material, will
melt at high temperatures. The molten material should not be allowed to contact the
skin, to which it may adhere, thus causing localised burns.
Burning fabric or packing may be extinguished using normal extinguishing methods,
for example water spray.
3) IN USE PRECAUTIONS
3.1 Do not ingest.
1
SICOMIN
3.2 Keep away from excessive heat or flames.
3.3 Some individuals may be sensitive to skin contact after prolonged exposure.
3.4 In common with other textile materials during converting operations there is a
possibility of the fabric shedding small amounts of nuisance dust.
4) PERSONAL PROTECTION
Not normally required, but the use of light gloves and/or respiratory protection is
recommended in appropriate circumstances.
5) STORAGE AND HANDLING
5.1 Keep dry and well ventilated.
5.2 Storage of fabric does not constitute a fire hazard, but if involved in a fire it
may emit smoke and toxic fumes.
5.3 The fabric may be supplied in rolls which could be heavy and, therefore, good
lifting practices should be employed.
6) DISPOSAL
6.1 Landfill:
Disposal of fabric on an approved landfill site should not pose a hazard to the
environment.
6.2 Incineration:
When burned the fabric will produce gaseous products. The exact nature of
these products will depend on such factors as the temperature of combustion
and the amount of oxygen available. In common with similar products, users
of incineration equipment
should ensure that complete combustion is achieved.
7) ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The safety data shown in this document applies to the products(s) named, and is
given in good faith based on the most up to date information available to SICOMIN.
This document does not cover the effect of combining the product with other
materials, In these circumstances it is the responsibility of the user to ensure
adequate safety data is obtained.
