Health Effects
The oral LD50 for rats is >15,000mg/kg
Acute:
Swallowed: Ingestion of small amounts may cause irritation of the mouth, throat and stomach.
Larger amounts may cause nausea and vomiting and diarrhea.
Eye: May cause eye irritation.
Skin: May cause allergic reactions in sensitive individuals.
Inhaled: May cause irritation of the mouth, throat and lungs.
Chronic: May result in allergic respiratory and skin reactions. Shows cross-allergenicity with
penicillin
First Aid
Swallowed: Rinse mouth with water. Give plenty of water to drink. Do not induce vomiting and
seek medical attention immediately.
Eye: Flush continuously with water for at least 15 minutes. In all cases of eye contamination
it is sensible to seek medical advice.
Skin: If skin contact occurs remove contaminated clothing and wash skin thoroughly with
soap and water. Seek medical attention if irritation persists.
Inhaled: Remove victim from exposure and seek medical advice.
First Aid Facilities: It is recommended that eyewash and general washing facilities are readily
available to areas of use.
Advice to Doctor: Treat symptomatically.
