HEALTH HAZARD
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ACUTE HEALTH EFFECTS
Swallowed: Considered an unlikely route of entry in commercial/industrial environments. This
material is non-toxic but may be harmful if swallowed in large quantity.
Eye: This material may be mildly discomforting to the eyes (due to preservative used).
Skin: This material may be mildly discomforting to the skin and may cause allergy if
exposure is prolonged.
Local injection site reaction in humans may occur from accidental injection through
the skin (needle stick injury), due to adjuvant used.
Inhaled: Not normally a hazard due to non-volatile nature of the product. The spray mist may
be discomforting to the upper respiratory tract and lungs, and repeated exposure
may cause sensitisation and/or allergic/asthma-like response.

CHRONIC HEALTH EFFECTS
Principal routes of exposure are by skin contact, accidental injection (needle stick injury), ingestion and/or
inhalation of syringe expressed aerosols. As with any chemical product, contact with unprotected bare skin;
inhalation of vapour, mist or dust in the work place atmosphere; or ingestion in any form, should be avoided
by observing good occupational work practice. Inactivated cultures and toxoids are not regarded as
pathogenic in humans.

FIRST AID
Swallowed: Rinse mouth out with plenty of water. If irritation or discomfort persists seek medical
attention.
Eye: If this product comes in contact with the eyes:
1: Immediately hold the eyes open and wash with fresh running water.
2: Ensure complete irrigation of the eye by keeping eyelids apart and away from eye
and moving the eyelids by occasionally lifting the upper and lower lids.
3: If pain persists or recurs seek medical attention.
4: Removal of contact lenses after an eye injury should only be undertaken by
skilled personnel.
Skin: Immediately wipe off with absorbent tissue or towel. Wash affected areas with water
for at least 15 minutes.
Inhaled: No recommendation required.
Advice to Doctor: Treat symptomatically. Adjuvant and/or preservative may produce eye or skin
discomfort.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EXPOSURE STANDARDS
No exposure limits set by NOHSC or ACGIH.

ENGINEERING CONTROLS
None under normal operating conditions.

PERSONAL PROTECTION
When handling small quantities of the material, eye protection may not be required.
For bulk handling or where regular exposure in an occupational setting occurs without proper
containment equipment-system:
Chemical goggles
Face shield
No special equipment needed when handling small quantities. Otherwise, for potentially moderate
exposures:
Wear general protective gloves, eg. light weight nitrile gloves
For potentially heavy exposures:
Wear chemical protective gloves, eg. nitrile, and safety footwear
OTHER
No special equipment needed when handling small quantities.
Otherwise:
1. Overalls
2. Barrier cream
3. Eyewash unit
The local concentration of material, quantity and conditions of use determine the type of personal protective
equipment required. For further information, consult your Occupational Health and Safety Advisor.
