HEALTH HAZARD DATA
HEALTH EFFECTS:
Acute
Accidental self-injection is the most likely route of exposure to FLUNIXON Injection.
The acute LD50 value of Flunixin meglumine in the mouse was greater than or equal to 170, 306 and
111 mg/kg bodyweight by the oral, intramuscular or intravenous routes. For rats the corresponding
values were greater than or equal to 113, 180 and greater than or equal to 90 mg/kg bodyweight. In
an acute inhalation toxicity study in the rat, all animals died at an exposure concentration of 0.52
mg/L for 4 hours.
Harmful if swallowed 鈥? may be absorbed from oral mucous membranes. Can cause gastrointestinal
disturbance, nausea, headache, vomiting and CNS depression.
Irritating to eyes and mucous membranes.
Chronic
No chronic exposure effects have been reported.


FIRST AID:
If poisoning occurs, contact a doctor or Poisons Information Centre, Phone 13 11 26.
Swallowed Seek medical assistance.
Eye Flush eyes for at least 15 minutes to remove material. Seek
medical assistance.
Skin Remove contaminated clothing and wash exposed area thoroughly with
soap and water. Seek medical assistance if skin reaction occurs.
Inhalation Seek medical assistance if irritation develops.
