SYSTEM INTEGRITY & PRODUCT MANAGEMENT

MILCO devoted over four-years to the field-testing of the various components of its Adjust-a-Trak
System鈩? in a variety of environmental settings to assure that tilt-up contractors obtain uniform,
predictable results in their forming installations when they are performed in accordance with MILCO
instructions and with MILCO-approved products.

For optimum dependability, in addition to proprietary use considerations, MILCO requires that its
Adjust-a-Trak Penetration-free Forming System鈩? be installed exclusively with MILCO Adjust-a-
Trak鈩?
Trak products or compatible MILCO-tested and approved third-party-manufactured products,
including Shopware, Inc. spray applicators and 3M鈩? surface cleaners. A listing of compatible
MILCO-tested and approved products may be found at the MILCO Website at 鈥渉ttp://www.milco-tilt-
up.com鈥? in the 鈥淢ILCO Product Information鈥? section.

An example of the importance of 鈥淪ystem Integrity鈥? can be seen by taking a closer look at MILCO鈥檚
FormBlock鈩?. While the FormBlock may look 鈥済eneric鈥? to the untrained eye, it has in fact been
ormBlock鈩?
FormBlock
subject to extensive testing by MILCO to assure that it meets the following criteria:

鈥? Compatibility with MILCO Tilt-up Spray Adhesive and 3M鈩? Adhesive
Remover Citrus Base;

鈥? Ability to withstand temperature extremes, from 5-degrees to 180-
degrees F.

鈥? Ability to withstand multiple lateral and vertical hammer blows
(occurring during installation and removal) without shattering or
cracking.

鈥? Near-zero expansion / contraction characteristics;

鈥? Zero deflection characteristics.

鈥? Density sufficient to assure that bracket bolts will hold for multiple re-
uses.

鈥? High resistance to UV and other environmental degradation;

鈥? Resistance to damage from scuffing and abrasive cleaning.

鈥? High resistance to water and chemical infiltration, including exposure
to benzine / petroleum-based and solvent-based bondbreaker
products and common sealing agents.

鈥? Absence of manufacturing process-instilled lead contamination and
surface coatings.

IT鈥橲 UP TO YOU !

鈥? THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT CONSIDERATION FOR DISTRIBUTORS AND
CONTRACTORS TO BE COGNIZANT OF IS THE FACT THAT THE MILCO
ADJUST-A-TRAK SYSTEM鈩? IS A METHOD. IT鈥橲 FAR MORE THAN JUST A
COLLECTION OF SEPARATE COMPONENTS COLLECTED TOGETHER AND
DROPPED AT A WORKSITE. THE CUSTOMER鈥橲 SUCCESS, OR LACK
THEREOF, IN USING THE MILCO ADJUST-A-TRAK SYSTEM鈩? WILL BE
CLOSELY ASSOCIATED WITH THE QUALITY AND THOROUGHNESS OF
TRAINING RECEIVED BY FIELD-PERSONNEL AND THEIR UNDERSTANDING
THAT THEY ARE, IN ESSENCE, THE CRITICAL 鈥淐OMPONENT鈥? OF THE
SYSTEM鈥?.

鈥? THESE INSTRUCTIONS PROVIDE FIELD-PERSONNEL WITH THE BASIC
STEPS FOR SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETING A VARIETY OF MILCO ADHESIVE-
BASED FORMING INSTALLATIONS IN A MULTITUDE OF ENVIRONMENTAL
CONDITIONS. IF CAREFULLY FOLLOWED, THESE INSTRUCTIONS WILL
GENERALLY ASSURE SUCCESSFUL RESULTS. IF THE INSTRUCTIONS ARE
NOT FOLLOWED, THERE IS A POSSIBILITY OF ADHESION FAILURE, WHICH,
WHILE EASILY REPAIRABLE, RESULTS IN NEEDLESSLY INCURRED DOWN-
TIME AND WASTED ADHESIVE PRODUCT.

RULE # 1: KEEP THE ADHESIVE WARM !
鈥? KEEP THE MILCO ADHESIVE CYLINDERS STORED IN AN AMBIENT
TEMPERATURE ENVIRONMENT OF BETWEEN 65潞F (18.3潞C) AND 80潞F (26.6潞C).

鈥? DURING COOL WEATHER APPLICATIONS (65 " OR BELOW), USE MILCO鈥橲
NON-STATIC 120-V THERMOSTATICALLY-CONTROLLED CYLINDER WARMER
TO MAINTAIN CONTENTS鈥? TEMPERATURE AT 65 " OR HIGHER IN THE FIELD.

CAUTION 鈥? TO AVOID RISK OF FIRE OR EXPLOSION, DO NOT
SET CYLINDER WARMER THERMOSTAT ABOVE 75-DEGREES
F.

鈥? A 鈥淐OTTAGE-CHEESE-LIKE CONSISTENCY鈥?,鈥淪PURTING鈥?, REDUCED FLOW
OF MATERIAL OR NO DISCHARGE MAY INDICATE THAT THE CYLINDER
CONTENTS HAVE BECOME TOO COOL. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE MILCO
SPRAY ADHESIVE IF THE CYLINDER CONTENTS HAVE COOLED TO BELOW
55". IF CYLINDER CONTENTS ARE ALLOWED TO COOL BELOW 40",
CYLINDER CONTENTS MAY NOT RECOVER TO THEIR ORIGINAL
COMPOSITION AND COULD REQUIRE REPLACEMENT.

MILCO Adjust-a-Trak Forming System 鈩? TILT-UP INSTRUCTION SHEET 鈥? Page 7
STEP 1 鈥? SPRAY GUN SETUP

To assure proper application results in accordance with these Instructions, MILCO requires the use
of SHOPWARE, INC. MILCO Spray Applicator Kit, Part No. Spec 45885-7676-18-KIT /20 /20,
which includes an applicator with a built-in 18" nozzle extension. See photos in the MILCO Website.
Hoses are available in 20' or 10' lengths. Contact MILCO or your MILCO distributor for more
information.

Remove the protective cap from the cylinder valve and save it for transporting or returning the
cylinder to MILCO after use. (Always restore the protective cap before returning the cylinder to
MILCO.) Attach the smaller flare fitting end of hose to the cylinder valve and the 114 N.S. (larger)
fitting-end of hose to the spray adhesive applicator. FULLY TIGHTEN ALL CONNECTIONS. INSPECT
ALL CONNECTIONS FOR LEAKS. Open the CYLINDER valve fully, then close 录 to 陆 turn.

Set the Shopware, Inc. / MILCO applicator鈥檚 "trigger stop adjusting nut" for desired adhesive flow.
Typically, one-and-a-half to two-and-a-half turns from the 鈥渃losed鈥? position will be about where the
best setting should be. The spray pattern should be adjusted to 2 to 3 inches in width at the
recommended application distance of between 2.5" to 3.5" from the target surface. Test spray a
stream of adhesive through the nozzle to assure that there is NO SPUTTERING OR BUBBLING and
that the adhesive sprays in a SPIDER-WEB OR THREAD-LIKE PATTERN.

SPRAY APPLICATION RECOMMENDATIONS

鈥? USE ONLY THE 95-DEGREE (ORANGE) SPRAY TIP, Part No. TP9501EVS-
SW, FOR APPLYING MILCO TILT-UP SPRAY ADHESIVE.

鈥? CAREFULLY CHECK ALL FITTINGS FROM THE CYLINDER TO THE TIP OF
THE ADHESIVE APPLICATOR EXTENSION TO ASSURE THAT THEY ARE
TIGHT AND THAT THERE ARE NO LEAKS.

鈥? ADJUSTMENT OF THE APPLICATOR TRIGGER STOP NUT AFFECTS THE
SPRAY PATTERN WIDTH AND THE AMOUNT OF SPRAY THAT IS APPLIED
TO THE TARGET SURFACES. LOOK FOR A SPIDER-WEB / THREAD-LIKE
PATTERN.

鈥? TAKE CARE NOT TO APPLY THE ADHESIVE TOO THICK. IF 鈥淏UBBLING鈥?
OF ADHESIVE MATERIAL OCCURS, CHECK YOUR APPLICATOR TRIGGER
STOP NUT SETTING AND TIGHTEN-UP THE NUT TO REDUCE FLUID FLOW.

鈥? FREQUENTLY CHECK SPRAY TIP FOR ADHESIVE BUILD-UP, ESPECIALLY
DURING WINDY CONDITIONS. PERIODICALLY CLEAN NOZZLE TIP WITH
3M鈩? ADHESIVE REMOVER CITRUS BASE OR A PLASTIC OR WIRE BRUSH.

MILCO Adjust-a-Trak Forming System 鈩? TILT-UP INSTRUCTION SHEET 鈥? Page 8
APPLYING SPRAY ADHESIVE IN WINDY WEATHER CONDITIONS

鈥? WHENEVER POSSIBLE, KEEP YOUR BACK TO THE WIND AND KEEP THE
SPRAY PATTERN AS CLOSE TO PARALLEL WITH THE WIND DIRECTION AS
POSSIBLE TO AVOID OVERSPRAYING.

鈥? REDUCE CYLINDER PRESSURE AND HOLD THE NOZZLE CLOSER TO
THE TARGET SURFACE WHILE IT鈥橲 WINDY.

鈥? CLEAN NOZZLE TIP FREQUENTLY!

STEP 2 鈥? SITE PREPARATION: PLAN AHEAD !

SURFACE CONDITIONS / APPLICATION TEMPERATURES

鈥? DON鈥橳 FORGET 鈥? THIS IS A CONTACT ADHESIVE! APPLY ADHESIVE TO BOTH SURFACES!
For best results, all surfaces to be bonded should be dry and free from dust, oil, grease, etc.

鈥? IF IT'S IMPORTANT TO RE-USE ALL OF YOUR MILCO COMMONTRAK鈩?, DON'T FORGET TO
CONSIDER IMPINGEMENT POINTS THAT YOUR REBAR, IMBEDS AND INSERTS MAY CAUSE WHEN
LAYING OUT THE COMMON FORMS.

鈥? CHECK THE WEATHER FORECAST ! AVOID EXPOSING FORMS TO HEAVY ICE BUILD-UP.

鈥? DO NOT APPLY THIS PRODUCT OVER 鈥淔IBERMESH鈥? OR SIMILAR SURFACES.

鈥? DO NOT APPLY THIS PRODUCT OVER SURFACES COVERED WITH STANDING WATER OR
DURING MODERATE TO HEAVY RAINFALL. Product MAY be applied to wet or damp surfaces by
following the 鈥淲et Surface Application鈥? instructions set forth below.

鈥? DO NOT APPLY THIS PRODUCT OVER SLAB SURFACES THAT ARE LIKELY TO HAVE
SIGNIFICANT ICE FORMATION OCCURRING BEFORE THE POURING OF THE CONCRETE. Expansion
characteristics of standing water having a depth of greater than 1/8-inch that has frozen, or
compacted snow, may exert sufficient pressure to dislodge installed blocks or forms. Slab surface
temperatures above 30 degrees without accompanying ice build-up will generally NOT materially
affect adhesion characteristics. For best results, MAXIMUM slab surface temperature should be
below 176" F.

鈥? LET IT DRY! LET IT DRY! LET IT DRY! Average warm-weather drying time is 1-7 minutes for
the adhesive to cure to the point where it is not 鈥渟ticky鈥? or pliable when touched 鈥? and substantially
longer in cooler (under 60") weather. Double coats require double time! Working time is around 30
minutes 鈥? so don鈥檛 be in a rush!

鈥? ALWAYS DO A LAST-MINUTE CHECK OF THE FORMBLOCKS鈩? & COMMONTRAK鈩? BEFORE
ORMBLOCKS OMMONTRAK
THE POUR TO DETERMINE IF THERE ARE ANY LOOSE BLOCKS OR COMMON TRACK. IF SO, JUST
REMOVE THE LOOSE ITEM(S), RE-APPLY ADHESIVE TO BOTH SURFACES AND RE-ATTACH.

鈥? TO AVOID ADHESION FAILURE, ALWAYS CHECK TO MAKE SURE THAT THE SCREWS USED TO
ATTACH THE ANGLE-BRACKETS TO THE FORMBLOCKS ARE NO LONGER THAN 3/8 INCH.
FORMBLOCKS鈩?
THEY MUST NOT PROTRUDE BEYOND THE BOTTOM SURFACE OF THE BLOCK !

MILCO Adjust-a-Trak Forming System 鈩? TILT-UP INSTRUCTION SHEET 鈥? Page 9
STEP 3 鈥? SITE PREPARATION:

LOCATE / PRE-CUT / PRE-FIT

鈥? Pre-assemble a sufficient quantity of the 5" x 6" concrete form angle brackets onto the pre-drilled
and tapped MILCO FormBlocks using 1/4" #20 3/8" Cadmium or Stainless Steel pan-head screws.
FormBlocks鈩?

鈥? Locate and mark all edge form, common form and/or reveal strip locations on the concrete slab
surface in accordance with the plans and specifications and material width. MILCO FormBlocks鈩?
ormBlocks
must be installed on 24" (or less) centers when used for blocking against edge forms up to 11 inches
in height.

鈥? Pre-cut all forms and strips to desired length. Pre-fit all items before applying adhesive.

FIELD CUTTING OF MILCO PVC FORMS

鈥? FIELD-CUT MILCO PVC FORMS WITH A 鈥淐HOP-SAW鈥?. For safety and
accuracy, DON鈥橳 USE A KNIFE OR A BOX CUTTER Lay one side of the
CUTTER.
form on the saw table and position the BASE of the form facing AGAINST THE
FENCE. When cutting corner angles into EdgeTrak
dgeTrak鈩?, insert a short length
of PanelForm into the channel to reinforce the side-walls during the cut.
PanelForm鈩?

鈥? Two-foot lengths of EdgeTrak & CommonTrak with pre-cut corner
dgeTrak鈩? CommonTrak鈩?
or chamfer angles are available from your MILCO distributor.

STEP 4 鈥? SITE PREPARATION:

DEALING WITH BONDBREAKER / CONCRETE RELEASING AGENTS

USE OF PETROLEUM-BASED BONDBREAKER PRODUCTS

鈥? WHENEVER POSSIBLE, AVOID USING MILCO TILT-UP SPRAY ADHESIVE
OVER BONDBREAKER PRODUCTS / CONCRETE RELEASING AGENTS
WHICH CONTAIN PETROLEUM DISTILLATES, INCLUDING STODDARD
SOLVENT, BENZENE COMPOUNDS, SUCH AS TRIMETHYLBENZENE,
ETHYLBENZENE, ETC.

MSDS
ALWAYS CHECK THE MSDS !
鈥? SURPRISINGLY,
鈥淲ATER-
MANY BONDBREAKER PRODUCTS THAT ARE LABELED AS
(鈥淲B鈥?)
BASED鈥? (鈥淲B鈥? ACTUALLY CONTAIN PETROLEUM / BENZINE
DISTILLATES !

鈥? CAREFULLY FOLLOWING THE MILCO APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS AND
CLOSELY MONITORING THE FIELD APPLICATION PROCESS ON THE SLAB
WILL REDUCE THE OCCURRENCE OF ADHESION FAILURES OVER
PETROLEUM-BASED BONDBREAKERS.

MILCO Adjust-a-Trak Forming System 鈩? TILT-UP INSTRUCTION SHEET 鈥? Page 10
OPTION A

PREFERRED METHOD (WET OR DRY SLAB):

APPLY MILCO TILT-UP SPRAY ADHESIVE DIRECTLY TO CONCRETE SLAB SURFACE
PRIOR TO APPLICATION OF BOND-BREAKER

鈥? Treat freshly-poured concrete with a curing agent and allow the concrete floor slab to cure at least
one (1) day before applying MILCO Tilt-Up Spray Adhesive.

鈥? Sweep, scrape or vacuum-off any powder residue.

鈥? If the slab surface is wet, remove any standing water along snap-lines with a blower, wet-vacuum
or squeegee.

鈥? Proceed to Step 5 below, for EDGE FORM installation instructions or to Step 6 for COMMON
5,
FORM installation instructions.

鈥? AFTER the strips, forms and blocks have been installed with MILCO Spray Adhesive, apply one
or more LIGHT coat(s) of a NON
NON-petroleum / solvent-based bondbreaker product over the Adjust-a-
Trak鈩?
Trak components and over all forms / reveal / chamfer-strip surfaces, etc. at the same time that
the bondbreaker is applied to the slab surface.

USE OF PETROLEUM-BASED BONDBREAKER
AFTER FORMS INSTALLATION

REMINDER 鈥? CHECK THE BONDBREAKER MSDS !!!
鈥?

鈥? If a PETROLEUM / SOLVENT-BASED bondbreaker (INCLUDING WATER-
BASED bondbreakers that contain benzine, etc.) is applied to the slab surface
AFTER the strips, forms and blocks have been installed over a cured surface,
Adjust-a-Trak鈩?
DO NOT apply it OVER the Adjust-a-Trak components or over any other
forms / reveal / chamfer-strip surfaces, etc. that have been installed with
MILCO Spray Adhesive.

鈥? USE A (9-inch or larger) PAINT ROLLER to apply the bondbreaker up to the
EDGE of the strips, forms and blocks 鈥? but not ON them. USE CARE to
assure that liquid bondbreaker does not accumulate or pool at the base of the
forms, strips or blocks as the petroleum solvents may infiltrate and attack the
MILCO adhesive, possibly causing an adhesion failure. Completion of the
remainder of any bondbreaker application to the interior floor surface may be
performed with a sprayer.

鈥? If an adhesion-failure occurs due to infiltration of a petroleum / solvent-
based bondbreaker into the MILCO Spray Adhesive, a 鈥減inkish鈥? residue will
often appear on the form surface where the infiltration occurred. Just remove
the affected form and buff the affected area with a COPPER wire rotary brush,
taking care not to etch the FormBlock surface. Then re-buff and re-heat the
FormBlock鈩?
infiltrated area on the slab surface and re-apply the MILCO Spray Adhesive to
both surfaces and re-attach.

MILCO Adjust-a-Trak Forming System 鈩? TILT-UP INSTRUCTION SHEET 鈥? Page 11
OPTION B

APPLICATION OF MILCO TILT-UP SPRAY ADHESIVE
AFTER BOND-BREAKER HAS BEEN APPLIED TO SLAB SURFACE

DAYS:
IF BONDBREAKER HAS CURED FOR 5 OR MORE DAYS

鈥? Perform a field-test with samples of CommonTrak and FormBlocksFormBlocks鈩?. Apply MILCO Tilt-Up
ommonTrak鈩?
Adhesive to the test form surfaces and to a target area on the concrete slab. Secure test forms to
the slab surface after adhesive has fully cured. Leave test forms in place for 24 hours and then check
for LATERAL adhesion strength. DON鈥橳 PULL UP on the forms! If the forms remain secure for 24
hours, it is likely that the petroleum solvents have evaporated sufficiently enough that they will not
adversely affect adhesion of the MILCO adhesive. If this step is successful, proceed to Step 5,
below, for EDGE FORM installation instructions or to Step 6 for COMMON FORM installation
instructions.

DAYS:
IF BONDBREAKER HAS NOT CURED FOR 5 OR MORE DAYS

鈥? Allow bondbreaker to fully cure.

鈥? Using a 6"-inch diameter rotary COPPER WIRE wheel or similar SOFT-METAL WIRE wheel,
SOFT-METAL
remove the bondbreaker surface coating by buffing along snap-lines as needed to allow for width of
material being installed on the concrete slab. Include all 6" x 6" FormBlock locations (on 24-inch
ormBlock鈩?
centers) along the perimeters.

CAUTION! Do not use a STEEL or other stiff wire brush to buff-off the bondbreaker. Damage to
the concrete surface may result from the use of the stiffer wire.

APPLICATION OVER BONDBREAKERS THAT
LEAVE A 鈥淪TICKY鈥? SURFACE

鈥? Certain bondbreakers leave a sticky surface coating on top of the floor
surface which tends to attract dust, dirt and other debris which will interfere
with proper adhesion.

鈥? A wire brush does not work well for removal of this type of bondbreaker
because it tends to gum up the brush quickly.

鈥? For better adhesion results with this type of bondbreaker, MILCO
recommends running a blade scraper along the snap-lines in lieu of using a
wire brush to remove the sticky surface coating together with any material
stuck to it prior to adhesive application.

REMEMBER 鈥? LET THE BONDBREAKER THOROUGHLY CURE
鈥?
BEFORE APPLYING MILCO TILT-UP SPRAY ADHESIVE.

MILCO Adjust-a-Trak Forming System 鈩? TILT-UP INSTRUCTION SHEET 鈥? Page 12
WET WEATHER SLAB PREPARATION 鈥? WITH BONDBREAKER

鈥? Remove standing water along snap-lines with a blower, wet-vacuum or squeegee.

鈥? After buffing, use a portable Propane torch to BRIEFLY (2 - 4 seconds maximum at any given
point.) flash/burn along the buffed-over areas, including all FormBlock locations. Heat intended
ormBlock鈩?
contact area until surface water has evaporated. This step is intended to flash-off any remaining
solvents that may be present in the bondbreaker that might affect adhesion of the MILCO Tilt-Up
Spray Adhesive product.

CAUTION ! Excessive heating of the slab surface will cause SEVERE, PERMANENT DAMAGE TO
THE CONCRETE, including spalling-off of the top surface. Also, BE CAREFUL not to heat the MILCO
Adjust-a-Trak鈩?
Adjust-a-Trak forms 鈥? they will melt and de-form quite easily! If you do accidentally deform the
PVC material, just remove the form and cut-off the de-formed portion, re-apply adhesive to BOTH
surfaces and re-attach.

NOTE: If 3M鈩? Adhesive Remover Citrus Base has been used to clean the floor slab, or any product
surfaces that will be coated with adhesive, the Adhesive Remover must be allowed to dry for at least
24-hours to assure that any solvents present In the Remover have flashed-off.

鈥? If a PETROLEUM / SOLVENT-BASED bondbreaker is to be applied to the slab surface AFTER the
strips, forms and blocks have been installed over a cured surface, DO NOT apply it OVER the Adjust-
a-Trak鈩? components or over any other forms / reveal / chamfer-strip surfaces, etc. that have been
installed with MILCO Spray Adhesive.

! USE A (9-inch or larger) PAINT ROLLER to apply the bondbreaker up to the EDGE of the
strips, forms and blocks 鈥? but not ON them. USE CARE to assure that liquid bondbreaker
does not accumulate or pool at the base of the forms, strips or blocks as the petroleum
solvents may infiltrate and attack the MILCO adhesive, possibly causing an adhesion failure.
Completion of the remainder of any bondbreaker application to the interior floor surface may
be performed with a sprayer.

! If an adhesion-failure occurs due to infiltration of a petroleum / solvent-based bondbreaker
into the MILCO Spray Adhesive, a 鈥減inkish鈥? residue will often appear on the form surface
where the infiltration occurred. Just remove the affected form and buff the affected area with
a COPPER wire rotary brush, taking care not to etch the FormBlock鈩? surface. Then re-buff
and re-heat the infiltrated area on the slab surface and re-apply the MILCO Spray Adhesive
to both surfaces and re-attach.

鈥? USER SHOULD ALWAYS PERFORM A TRIAL APPLICATION OF ADHESIVE UPON A CURED
BOND-BREAKER-TREATED SURFACE PRIOR TO PRIMARY PROJECT APPLICATION TO DETERMINE
SUITABILITY FOR USE WITH A SPECIFIC BOND-BREAKER PRODUCT.

DRY WEATHER SLAB PREPARATION 鈥? WITH BONDBREAKER

鈥? After buffing, use a portable Propane field-burner to BRIEFLY (1 - 2 seconds maximum at any
given point.) flash/burn along the buffed-over areas, including all edgeform block locations. This
step is intended to flash-off any remaining solvents that may be present in the bondbreaker that might
affect proper adhesion of the MILCO Tilt-Up Spray Adhesive product.

PVC material, just remove the form and cut-off the de-formed portion, re-apply adhesive to BOTH
surfaces and re-attach.

鈥? USER SHOULD ALWAYS PERFORM A TRIAL APPLICATION OF ADHESIVE UPON A CURED BOND-
BREAKER-TREATED SURFACE PRIOR TO PRIMARY PROJECT APPLICATION TO DETERMINE
SUITABILITY FOR USE WITH A SPECIFIC BOND-BREAKER PRODUCT.

REMINDER 鈥? KEEP CYLINDER TEMPERATURE 65" OR ABOVE
鈥? DURING STORAGE AND THE INSTALLATION PROCESS, MILCO ADHESIVE
PRODUCT MUST BE MAINTAINED IN ITS CYLINDER AT 65潞F (18.3潞C) OR
ABOVE, AND THE SURFACE(S) TO BE BONDED SHOULD BE AT 32潞F
(1.00潞C) OR ABOVE. PRODUCT MAY FAIL TO BOND IF TEMPERATURE OF
CYLINDER CONTENTS FALLS BELOW RECOMMENDED TEMPERATURE AT
TIME OF APPLICATION.

STEP 5 鈥? ADHESIVE APPLICATION
AFTER LAYOUT OF PRE-CUT FORMS ALONG SNAP-LINES

A. INSTALLATION OF EDGE FORMS

With the MILCO Penetration-free Forming System鈩?, quick installation of edge forms is accomplished
using these easy steps:

MILCO Adjust-a-Trak Forming System 鈩? TILT-UP INSTRUCTION SHEET 鈥? Page 14
Place MILCO FormBlocks on the Slab Surface: After all
FormBlocks鈩?
(1)
site preparation steps have been completed in accordance with the
previous instructions, including removal of any bond-breaker along
Adjust-a-Trak鈩?
the snap-lines and block locations, lay-out MILCO Adjust-a-Trak
FormBlocks鈩? along the INSIDE of the panel edge snap-line just
FormBlocks
OPPOSITE of the previously marked and 鈥渂urned鈥? FormBlock
FormBlock鈩?
location areas, with the ANGLE-BRACKET FACING DOWN and the
surface to be coated with adhesive facing UPWARD. Position each
block so that the flat surface inclines toward the intended
FormBlock target location point on the opposite side of the snap-
FormBlock鈩?
line.

鈥? Remember, MILCO FormBlocks must be installed on not greater than 24" centers when used
ormBlocks鈩?
for blocking against edge forms up to 11 inches in height. Greater panel heights require closer
centers to provide sufficient lateral resistance.

鈥? LEAVE A SPACE OF AT LEAST 12" between the exterior slab edge and the OUTWARD-FACING
EDGE of the MILCO EdgeTrak (snap-line) to allow for proper installation of MILCO FormBlocks
EdgeTrak鈩? ormBlocks鈩?.

Apply Adhesive to each FormBlock and Floor Slab in three short 鈥淒own-Up-Down鈥?
FormBlocklock鈩?
(2)
strokes Starting at the top-left or top-right of the FormBlock
ormBlock鈩?, use a single downward motion to
apply a 2-inch-wide strip of MILCO Tilt-Up Spray to the block surface AND to the adjacent
FormBlock target location area. Move the applicator spray tip to the adjacent (center) 2" section
FormBlock鈩?
to be sprayed and apply adhesive in a single UPWARD motion from the back edge of the target
location to the top of the FormBlock
FormBlock鈩?. Finish up with a final downward stroke from the top of the
block down to the back edge of the FormBlock target location area.
FormBlock鈩?

FORMBLOCKS鈩?
DON鈥橳 REDUCE DIMENSIONS OF FORMBLOCKS
鈥? THE MILCO PENETRATION-FREE FORMING SYSTEM鈩? REQUIRES THE
USE OF 6" X 6" OR LARGER MILCO FORMBLOCKS
ORMBLOCKS鈩? FOR ATTACHING
EDGE FORMS AND SIDE PANELS AND OTHER BARRIERS THAT WILL BE
SUBJECT TO LATERAL STRESS DURING THE POURING OF CONCRETE
IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE USE OF MILCO TILT-UP SPRAY ADHESIVE.

鈥? DO NOT REDUCE THE SIZE OF THE FORMBLOCKS BELOW 6" x
FORMBLOCKS
KS鈩?
6" x d鈥?.

(3) Allow the adhesive-coated surfaces to become dry to touch. When dry, the adhesive should not
be 鈥渟ticky鈥? to touch or capable of transfer from the target surface. Drying time will vary depending
upon relative humidity, temperature and moisture levels.

(4) After the adhesive has become dry-to-touch on the FormBlocks and floor location points,
ormBlocks鈩?
place each FormBlock on the floor surface target area positioned so that the 90-degree angle
FormBlock鈩?
bracket side is aligned along the chalk-line, facing toward the inside where the EdgeTrak and LSL
EdgeTrak鈩?
panel form will be located. (See photo on previous page.)

MILCO Adjust-a-Trak Forming System 鈩? TILT-UP INSTRUCTION SHEET 鈥? Page 15
(5) After the FormBlock has been secured to the floor surface, solidly tap the TOP SURFACE of
ormBlock鈩?
the FormBlock on both sides of the attached angle bracket with a 2" or 3"-diameter rubber mallet
FormBlock鈩?
to 鈥渇ix鈥? the adhesive contact.

IMPORTANT 鈥? DEALING WITH LOOSE BLOCKS: In the event that a panel support block
appears to be loose or needs to be re-positioned after it has been attached to the slab surface, the
FormBlock should be removed by inserting a flat scraper or blade under one end and lifting, or
FormBlock鈩?
by applying a quick hammer-blow to one of the sides. BOTH surfaces (FormBlock鈩? and slab
F ormBlock
surface) must then be re-sprayed with adhesive and allowed to dry to touch before re-attaching.

USE OF MILCO FORMBLOCKS鈩? WITH LSL PANEL FORMS
( WITHOUT MILCO EDGETRAK鈩? )
鈥? IN SITUATIONS WHERE DESIRED PANEL HEIGHT ( I.E., WALL THICKNESS)
IS EQUAL TO THE PANELFORM HEIGHT WITH NO FURTHER ADJUSTMENT
ANELFORM鈩?
REQUIRED, MILCO FORMBLOCKS WITH ATTACHED ANGLE BRACKETS
FORMBLOCKS
BLOCKS鈩?
MAY BE UTILIZED INDEPENDENTLY TO SECURE THE PANELFORM TO THE
PANELFORM鈩?
FLOOR SLAB WITHOUT THE MILCO EDGETRAK
EDGETRAK鈩?.

(6) Following installation of all of the FormBlocks along the panel side, place pre-cut lengths
ormBlocks鈩?
of MILCO EdgeTrak鈩? along the inside of the chalk-line, against the edge of the FormBlock鈩? and
EdgeTrak FormBlock
the attached angle-bracket 鈥? with the 45-degree chamfer-angle facing 鈥渋n鈥? toward the panel location.
Check for fit. For better efficiency, use pre-cut 45-degree right or left-hand pieces at the corners.

Insert an ET Connector between the ends of each adjoining EdgeTrak to improve
Connector鈩? EdgeTrak ak鈩?
(7)
lateral stability. Continue installation until all sections of EdgeTrak have been installed between
dgeTrak鈩?
the top and bottom edge forms.

NOTE: No adhesive is applied to the bottom of the EdgeTrak鈩? 鈥? It is held against the angle-
bracket by a single dry-wall screw inserted through the TOP hole on the angle bracket.

DEALING WITH PEAKS & VALLEYS

鈥? IF THE CONCRETE SURFACE IS UNEVEN BENEATH THE POINT WHERE
TWO COMMONTRAK SECTIONS MEET TOGETHER END-TO-END, ALWAYS
OMMONTRAK鈩?
RAISE THE LOWER END TO MEET THE HIGHER END.

鈥? DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FORCE THE HIGHER END DOWNWARD TO MEET
THE LOWER END OR ADHESION FAILURE WILL OCCUR DUE TO THE
RESULTING STEADY UPWARD PRESSURE ON THE ADHESIVE.

(8) If additional panel height is required, fabricate a 1 1/8"- wide spacer of suitable height from
MILCO PanelForm and insert it into the track channel, resting on the bottom surface. Place
PanelForm鈩?
djust-a-Trak鈩?
spacers along the Adjust-a-Trak channel as needed to support the ends of each length of the
PanelForm that will rest on top of the spacer.
PanelForm鈩?

MILCO Adjust-a-Trak Forming System 鈩? TILT-UP INSTRUCTION SHEET 鈥? Page 16
(9) Following installation of the height spacers (...if used, or following the placement of the
FormBlocks along the panel edge, if not), insert a length of MILCO PanelForm into the
FormBlocks鈩? anelForm鈩?
EdgeTrak channel and seat it on top of the spacers (...if used, or let it rest on the channel floor
EdgeTrak鈩?
if no spacer is used). Place the assembled panel form (EdgeTrak + PanelForm ) against the
EdgeTrak鈩? PanelForm鈩?
previously-installed row of FormBlocks so that the OUTSIDE (flat) edge is against the upright side
FormBlocks鈩?
of the angle-bracket.

AVOID USING NAILS WITH BLOCKING SUPPORT

鈥? THE USE OF NAILS TO AFFIX ANGLE BRACKETS OR OTHER BRACING TO
THE MILCO PANELFORM
PANELFORM鈩? SHOULD BE AVOIDED IN ORDER TO PREVENT
ACCIDENTAL RELEASE OF ADHESION AND TO FACILITATE THE RE-USE OR
RE-POSITIONING OF BLOCKS. ALWAYS USE DRY-WALL OR SIMILAR
TYPE SCREWS.

DO NOT USE CUT OR LAMINATED LUMBER PRODUCTS

鈥? DO NOT USE CUT OR FORMED LUMBER PRODUCTS FOR EDGE FORMS
OR FORMING SUPPORT BLOCKS DUE TO SURFACE IRREGULARITIES,
VARIATIONS IN MOISTURE CONTENT AND WARPING PROPENSITIES. USE
OF THESE PRODUCTS WILL LIKELY RESULT IN ADHESION FAILURE!

COMPENSATION:
ANGLE-BRACKET ATTACHMENT 鈥? COMPENSATION If it should become
Adjust-a-Trak鈩?
desirable to compensate for the difference between the Adjust-a-Trak wall thickness and the
c
inserted PanelForm鈩? (c鈥?), a No. 6 metal washer may be placed IN-BETWEEN the upright
anelForm
PanelForm and the inside surface of the 鈥淟-bracket鈥? when the top screw is inserted through the
PanelForm鈩?
fastener hole.

INSTALLATION:
TWO-SIDED CHAMFER INSTALLATION In the event that the specs call for chamfers
on both sides of a wall panel, just place a second length of EdgeTrak鈩? upside-down on top of the
EdgeTrak
upright panel form, with the chamfer facing inward. NOTE that the panel height (thickness) will be
correspondingly increased by 1/16".

TOP-PLATES:
USE OF FORMBLOCKS鈩? WITH PRESSURE-TREATED TOP-PLATES In the
event that the specs call for pressure-treated top-plates to be attached to the panel tops, MILCO
FormBlocks may be utilized to block the top-plates in place for the pour:
FormBlocks鈩?

鈥? Follow the previous instructions for attaching the MILCO FormBlocks to the floor surface
ormBlocks鈩?
against the outside edge of the top-plate and then secure the attached angle-bracket to the top-plate
with a dry-wall screw THROUGH THE LOWER HOLE in the angle bracket. DO NOT FULLY TIGHTEN
THE SCREW. Using the LOWER hole and leaving an approximately 1/8th to 1/4th-inch gap will allow
the wood in the top-plate to flex during expansion, contraction or warping, thereby reducing the risk
of premature release of the MILCO FormBlocks
FormBlocks鈩?.

B. INSTALLATION OF COMMON FORMS:

Adjust-a-Trak鈩? CommonTrak鈩?
The MILCO Penetration-free Forming System鈩? utilizes MILCO Adjust-a-Trak CommonTrak
鈥? re-useable, height-adjustable PVC U-shaped channel track with a built-in 45-degree chamfer
along the inside base of BOTH sides 鈥? into which MILCO PanelForm
PanelForm鈩? is inserted. The
CommonTrak (...with the inserted PanelForm ) is held in place by on the floor slab with MILCO
CommonTrak鈩? anelForm鈩?
Tilt-Up Spray Adhesive. With the MILCO Penetration-free Forming System鈩?, quick installation of
common forms is accomplished using these easy steps:

After all site preparation steps have been completed in accordance with the previous
(1)
instructions, including removal of any bond-breaker along the snap-lines, lay-out MILCO Adjust-a-
Trak鈩? CommonTrak鈩?
Trak CommonTrak along the common panel snap-line and check for correct end-to-end fit.

If pre-cut end-pieces are not available at the work-site, make a 45-degree horizontal inward-
(2)
beveled cut through the chamfer at the bottom edge of the CommonTrak end that will abut the
CommonTrak鈩?
EdgeTrak chamfer.
EdgeTrak鈩?

Position each CommonTrak section on its side so that the bottom surface (...the surface
CommonTrak鈩?
(3)
that the adhesive is applied to) is perpendicular to the floor slab and against the snap-line, opposite
of where the bondbreaker has been removed (I.e., the adhesive 鈥渢arget鈥? area.). (Some contractors
prefer to lay out the PanelForm on its side along the snap-line underneath the CommonTrak
PanelForm鈩? CommonTrak鈩?
to use as a 鈥渞ule鈥?.)

Using long horizontal strokes, apply a two-and-a-half-inch-wide even coat of MILCO Tilt-Up
(4)
Spray Adhesive to the bottom surface of the CommonTrak and another to the floor slab in one
ommonTrak鈩?
or two continuous motion(s). This labor-saving method will provide adhesive application to the floor
slab and to the CommonTrak in a single easy step.
CommonTrak鈩?

Allow the adhesive-coated surfaces to become dry to touch. When dry, the adhesive should
(5)
not be 鈥渟ticky鈥? to touch or capable of transfer from the target surface. Drying time will vary
depending upon relative humidity, temperature and moisture levels.

After the adhesive has become dry-to-touch on all surfaces, TWO PERSONS 鈥? one at each
(6)
end of a length of CommonTrak 鈥? using the snap-line or PanelForm
PanelForm鈩? as a locating point,
CommonTrak鈩?
rotate the CommonTrak鈩? vertically into place so that the bottom surface of the CommonTrak鈩?
CommonTrak CommonTrak
comes into contact with the floor surface target area. Apply hand pressure to secure contact.

鈥淪eat鈥? the adhesive contact between the CommonTrak
CommonTrak鈩? and the floor-slab by inserting
(7)
a short length of PanelForm panel form into the CommonTrak channel and tap downward on
PanelForm鈩? ommonTrak鈩?
the PanelForm鈩? with a hammer or rubber mallet, moving down the entire length of the
PanelForm
CommonTrak鈩?.
CommonTrak

If additional panel height is required, following installation of an entire row of
(8)
c
CommonTrak insert a 1c鈥? - wide spacer of pre-determined height into the track channel, resting
CommonTrak鈩?,
djust-a-Trak鈩?
on the bottom surface. Place spacers along the Adjust-a-Trak channel as needed to support the
ends of each length of PanelForm that will rest on top of the spacer.
PanelForm鈩?

DEALING WITH PEAKS & VALLEYS

鈥? IF THE CONCRETE SURFACE IS UNEVEN BENEATH THE POINT WHERE
TWO COMMONTRAK SECTIONS MEET TOGETHER END-TO-END, ALWAYS

RAISE THE LOWER END TO MEET THE HIGHER END.

鈥? DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FORCE THE HIGHER END DOWNWARD TO MEET
THE LOWER END OR ADHESION FAILURE WILL OCCUR DUE TO THE
RESULTING STEADY UPWARD PRESSURE ON THE ADHESIVE.

After an entire row of CommonTrak has been secured to the floor surface between the
CommonTrak鈩?
(9)
top and bottom edge forms, to facilitate the insertion of the PanelForm鈩? into the CommonTrak鈩?
PanelForm CommonTrak
channel, place one leg each of two lengths of MILCO TrakCap channel form UPSIDE-DOWN and
TrakCap鈩?
SIDE-BY-SIDE INTO THE CHANNEL of the first length of CommonTrak鈩?, leaving the other two legs
CommonTrak
of the TrakCap on the outside of the CommonTrak channel edges.
TrakCap鈩? CommonTrak鈩?

DEALING WITH LOOSE FORMS

DON鈥橳 MAKE 鈥淪POT REPAIRS鈥? TO AN AREA OF FAILED ADHESION !

鈥? IN THE EVENT THAT A PORTION OF AN ADJUST-A-TRAK FORM OR
ADJUST-A-TRAK鈩?
BLOCK APPEARS TO BE LOOSE OR NEEDS TO BE RE-POSITIONED AFTER
IT HAS BEEN ATTACHED TO THE SLAB SURFACE, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO
REPAIR AN AREA OF FAILED ADHESION BY PRYING UP A SINGLE PORTION
OF THE STRIP OR BLOCK AND SPRAYING ADHESIVE IN BETWEEN THE
CONTACT SURFACES.

鈥? THE ENTIRE SECTION MUST BE REMOVED BY INSERTING A FLAT
SCRAPER OR BLADE UNDER ONE END AND LIFTING. BOTH SURFACES
ADJUST-A-TRAK鈩? FORM AND SLAB SURFACE) MUST THEN BE RE-
(ADJUST-A-TRAK
ADJUST-A-TRAK
SPRAYED WITH ADHESIVE AND ALLOWED TO DRY TO TOUCH BEFORE RE-
ATTACHING.

(10) Next, insert a length of PanelForm into the CommonTrak channel between the two
PanelForm
Form鈩? ommonTrak鈩?
inverted TrakCap sections.
TrakCap鈩?

(11) Slide the two inverted lengths of TrakCap along the inside of the CommonTrak channel
TrakCap鈩? ommonTrak鈩?
to the next length of CommonTrak and repeat the insertion process and the until the panel forms
CommonTrak鈩?
have been installed to the other side of the panel. Remove the two lengths of inverted TrakCap
rakCap鈩?.

(12) Beginning at one end, insert MILCO TrakCap (with the open channel facing downward)
TrakCap鈩?
onto the entire length of the PanelForm installation so that the TrakCap side-walls extend over
anelForm鈩? TrakCap鈩?
the upward-facing side-walls of the CommonTrak
CommonTrak鈩?.

(13) Secure the TrakCap to the inserted PanelForm by installing a small nail through the
TrakCap鈩? PanelForm鈩?
top of the TrakCap鈩? at each end.
TrakCap

TWO-SIDED CHAMFER INSTALLATION: In the event that the specs call for chamfers on both
sides of a wall panel, in lieu of installing TrakCap
TrakCap鈩?, just place a second length of CommonTrak
ommonTrak鈩?
upside-down on top of the upright PanelForm , with the chamfer facing downward toward the
PanelForm鈩?
floor-slab. However, NOTE that If the panel height is higher than 7", a gap will appear and expose
the PanelForm between the top and bottom EdgeTraks EdgeTraks鈩?, allowing concrete to stick to the
PanelForm鈩?
PanelForm鈩?, possibly resulting in difficulty in removing the PanelForm prior to tilt-up.
PanelForm鈩?

MILCO鈥橲 UNIQUE 鈥淟EAP-FROGGING鈥? COMMON FORM TECHNIQUE

鈥? FOR LARGER PROJECTS, IT MAY BE FEASIBLE TO RE-USE PANELFORMS
PANELFORMS鈩?
MULTIPLE TIMES ON THE SAME PROJECT TO REDUCE THE TOTAL NUMBER OF
REQUIRED MILCO TRAKCAPS
TRAKCAPS鈩? AND PANELFORMS
ANELFORMS鈩? NEEDED FOR THE
PROJECT. THIS IS ACCOMPLISHED BY REMOVING THE TRAKCAP AND THE
RAKCAP鈩?
PANELFORMS FROM THE FIRST SET OF POURED PANELS A DAY AFTER THE
PANELFORMS鈩?
FIRST POUR AND 鈥淟EAP-FROGGING鈥? THEM TO THE NEXT SET OF WALL PANELS TO
BE FORMED.

鈥? TO UTILIZE THIS TECHNIQUE 鈥? WHICH WORKS WITH PANEL HEIGHTS UP TO 9"
鈥? IT WILL BE NECESSARY TO 鈥淐AP鈥? THE FIRST SET OF COMMONTRAK FORMS

C. INSTALLATION OF BLOCKOUTS, CHAMFERS, REVEAL STRIPS,
DETAIL STRIPS, FEATURE STRIPS, RUSTICATION STRIPS and 鈥淢DF鈥?
STRIPS:

(1) FLOOR SLAB

After following all recommended steps for removal of any bondbreaker product , hold the spray
nozzle 2.5 to 3.5 inches away from the target surface, spray ONE (1) even coat of adhesive over the
marked-off target area on the FLOOR SLAB.

鈥? If standing water is present on slab surface at time of application, remove pooled water with a
鈥渟queegee鈥?, blower or shop vacuum.

MILCO Adjust-a-Trak Forming System 鈩? TILT-UP INSTRUCTION SHEET 鈥? Page 22
鈥? APPLICATION of adhesive DURING moderate to heavy rainfall is not recommended. However, if
standing water covers adhesive AFTER it has been properly applied to the slab-surface, adhesion will
NOT be affected by the presence of standing water over the target area at the time of contact.

(2) STRIPS

鈥? For REVEAL, RUSTICATION, CHAMFER STRIPS, etc. 鈥? ONE INCH or LESS in width: Apply TWO
thin coats of adhesive to the CONCRETE SLAB surface AND to the STRIP.

鈥? For REVEAL, RUSTICATION, CHAMFER STRIPS, etc. 鈥? WIDER than ONE INCH: Apply ONE even
coat of adhesive to the concrete slab surface and ONE even coat to the strip material. IMPORTANT
鈥? DO NOT APPLY THE ADHESIVE TOO THICK!

USING 鈥淢DF鈥? FOR REVEAL INSTALLATION:

鈥? APPLY LACQUER TO ALL SIDES OF ANY 鈥淢DF鈥? OR SIMILAR MOISTURE-
ABSORBING MATERIAL PRIOR TO APPLYING ADHESIVE AND APPLY AN
EXTRA COAT OF ADHESIVE OVER THE LAST FOOT AT EACH END DURING
INSTALLATION. LEAVE ADEQUATE EXPANSION GAPS BETWEEN ENDS.
IF ITS RAINING, APPLY LACQUER TO STRIPS IN A PROTECTED AREA.

鈥? NOTE: FLAKEBOARD AMERICA, LTD. 鈥淢R鈥? (鈥淢OISTURE
M
RESISTANT鈥?) MDF (FORMERLY A WEYERHAEUSER PRODUCT.) OR
SIMILAR SUBSTITUTE, METAL, SOLID WOOD, OR PLASTIC / STYROFOAM
FORMS OR STRIPS DO NOT REQUIRE PRE-LACQUERING
PRE-LACQUERING.

鈥? IMPORTANT 鈥? When using any MDF material APPLY AN EXTRA COAT OF ADHESIVE
material,
TO THE OUTSIDE ONE (1) FOOT OF EACH END after the initial coat has fully dried.

鈥? IF IT IS RAINING, apply adhesive to forms, strips or blocks in a protected area.

鈥? To increase efficiency, several strips may be sprayed simultaneously.

鈥? LET IT DRY! LET IT DRY! LET IT DRY! Allow the adhesive-coated surfaces to
become dry to touch. When dry, the adhesive should not be 鈥渟ticky鈥? to touch or capable of transfer
from the target surface. Drying time will vary depending upon relative humidity, temperature and
moisture levels. DO NOT FORCE-DRY THE ADHESIVE AFTER IT IS APPLIED as its contact
properties may be adversely affected.

DON鈥橳 FORGET TO GAP !

鈥? SOME STRIP-FORMING MATERIALS (INCLUDING MDF) SWELL WHEN
EXPOSED TO MOISTURE.

鈥? USER SHOULD DETERMINE THE EXPANSION CHARACTERISTICS OF
THE STRIP MATERIAL BEING USED AND PROVIDE APPROPRIATE GAPS
BETWEEN STRIPS.

鈥? FAILURE TO GAP MAY RESULT IN BOWING OR LIFTING OF SECTIONS
OF THE STRIPS.

MILCO Adjust-a-Trak Forming System 鈩? TILT-UP INSTRUCTION SHEET 鈥? Page 23
鈥? Carefully align the form or strip over the appropriate target area on the floor slab and join the
surfaces together. CAUTION 鈥? bonding is instant! After the adhesive-coated surfaces have
sufficiently dried, bonding will occur on either wet or dy surfaces.

鈥淪EAT鈥? THE CONTACT SURFACES by using a 2" or 3" rubber mallet.
鈥?

鈥? Following surface contact and seating performed in accordance with these instructions 鈥? in
either a 鈥渄ry鈥? or 鈥渨et鈥? environment 鈥? the bond will not be impaired or defeated by subsequent
moisture, humidity or standing water that occurs during the following four to five weeks (...except
possibly if a large quantity of standing water turns to ice).

鈥? After surface contact is made and the contact surfaces are seated, the item bonded to the slab
surface should feel firm and solid and be free of any LATERAL movement. DO NOT TEST ADHESION
STRENGTH BY PULLING AN INSTALLED STRIP UPWARDS! MILCO Tilt-up Spray Adhesive is
specifically engineered to resist LATERAL movement !

鈥? Prior to the pouring of the concrete wall panel, a LIGHT coating of bond-breaker may be applied
to all exposed strip surfaces to reduce the risk of spalling and other damage to the concrete during
tilt-up and removal of the strips.

STEP 6 鈥? MAINTENANCE, RE-USE, STORAGE & SHUT DOWN:

A. AT THE END OF EACH DAY

鈥? Tighten the applicator adjustment nut to prevent accidental release of adhesive.

鈥? Always leave the cylinder valve open and the hose and applicator pressurized between jobs to
prevent clogging.

鈥? Remove nozzle and clean it and the wand-head mounting surface with 3m鈩? adhesive remover
citrus base and a wire brush. Place nozzle back on wand after cleaning and tighten.

鈥? Keep cylinder, pressurized hose and spray applicator at a temperature of at least 65" overnight.

B. BETWEEN SEPARATE APPLICATIONS

鈥? To extend hose life, DO NOT CLOSE CYLINDER VALVE BETWEEN SEPARATE APPLICATIONS.
If the cylinder valve is closed after an application and before depletion of the cylinder contents with
the hose still attached, the hose may become clogged with adhesive and need to be replaced.

鈥? If there is to be a delay between applications, store cylinder with VALVE OPEN (hose pressurized)
at an ambient air temperature of between 65潞F (18.3潞C) and 80潞F (26.6潞C). Use care to avoid cutting
or puncturing pressurized delivery hose or loosening hose connections. Place a tag on the applicator
notifying users that the hose is pressurized.

C. REPLACEMENT OF AN EMPTY CYLINDER
DURING WORK-IN-PROGRESS

To replace an empty cylinder in the course of work-in-progress, the following procedure is
recommended:

鈥? WEAR SAFETY GOGGLES AND GLOVES at all times.

鈥? Position full replacement cylinder next to spent cylinder with hose still attached.

MILCO Adjust-a-Trak Forming System 鈩? TILT-UP INSTRUCTION SHEET 鈥? Page 24
鈥? Close empty cylinder valve completely. To avoid seal damage, do not over-tighten. Point
applicator spray nozzle away from people and spray any remaining pressurized material in hose onto
waste material or any other expendable surface until all pressure is released.

鈥? Wearing protective goggles and gloves, slowly loosen the hose fitting from the cylinder outlet.
Remove hose from spent cylinder, taking care to keep the fitting-end pointed upwards to avoid
spilling adhesive.

鈥? Immediately connect hose fitting to the full cylinder outlet and tighten. Slowly open the new
cylinder valve to pressurize the hose with adhesive. Open the cylinder valve fully, then close 1/4 to
陆 turn. Recharge the hose with adhesive material by pointing the spray nozzle / applicator away from
people and spraying a short burst onto waste material or any other expendable surface until adhesive
appears.

D. LONG TERM STORAGE

鈥? Store MILCO Spray Adhesive between 65潞F (18.3潞C) and 80潞F (26.6潞C) for maximum storage life.
Higher temperatures can reduce normal storage life. Lower temperatures can cause increased
viscosity of a temporary nature. Temperatures lower than 40潞F (4.4潞C) may cause the product
ingredients to permanently separate, rendering the adhesive unusable.

鈥? For best results, use cylinder contents within 16 months of purchase date. If the hose and spray
gun are not going to be used for extended periods of time, clean out the hose and nozzle with 3M鈩?
Adhesive Remover Adhesive Citrus Base (...available from your MILCO distributor) before the
remaining adhesive dries.

鈥? The tip can also be cleaned with masking tape or a small wire brush before the adhesive is
completely dried. Follow nozzle manufacturer鈥檚 cleaning and storage instructions. Hose may need
to be replaced for next application if an excessive amount of adhesive residue remains inside.
CAUTION: When using solvents, extinguish all ignition sources and follow the manufacturer鈥檚
precautions and directions for use.

STEP 7 鈥? REMOVING STRIPS & FORMS AFTER THE POUR

A. EDGE FORM REMOVAL

As soon as the panels have been poured and can be safely walked upon, edge forms may be easily
removed by following these easy steps:

鈥? Along the outside edge of the edge form, remove all screws that were used to attach the upright
support leg of the FormBlock angle brackets to the upright PanelForms .
FormBlock鈩? PanelForms鈩?

鈥? Next, place a piece of wood or PanelForm
anelForm鈩? on the floor surface adjacent to the edge of a
MILCO FormBlock
FormBlock鈩?. Dislodge the FormBlock by firmly tapping against the wood with a
FormBlock鈩?
hammer, in a motion parallel to the panel form. The FormBlock and attached angle bracket will
FormBlock鈩?
immediately become dislodged.

鈥? As an alternative, faster method, use a long bar with an angled, flat, blunt end to move along the
slab surface parallel to the panel form. Move the bar evenly along the length of the edge form,
striking one of the edges of each FormBlock that is perpendicular to the panel form with
ormBlock鈩?
sufficient force to dislodge it.

MILCO Adjust-a-Trak Forming System 鈩? TILT-UP INSTRUCTION SHEET 鈥? Page 25
鈥? To avoid bending the attached concrete form angle brackets, do not attempt to remove the
FormBlocks from the floor slab by pulling on the angle bracket. Always direct the driving force
FormBlocks鈩?
against the left or right side-edge of the FormBlock so that it moves PARALLEL to the panel form.
ormBlock鈩?

鈥? After the FormBlocks have been removed, following multiple re-uses, they should be sorted
ormBlocks鈩?
according to whether or not excess adhesive build-up has occurred. If so, simply buff-off the residue
with a COPPER or other SOFT-
SOFT-wire rotary brush. ( To avoid damaging the blocks, DON鈥橳 use a
STEEL brush.) To save time cleaning multiple blocks, contractors may wish to fabricate a jig out of
a pair of 2" x 6"鈥檚 mounted 1 1/4" apart on a couple of sawhorses. A number of blocks can be
inserted into the slot bracket-side-down and buffed clean at one time. Be careful not to abrade the
FormBlock surface.
FormBlock鈩?

鈥? Between jobs, store MILCO FormBlocks鈩? in a clean, dry environment in which the ambient air
ormBlocks
temperature does not exceed 180 degrees Fahrenheit.

鈥? Following removal of the MILCO FormBlocks
ormBlocks鈩?, use any type of pry-bar to remove the MILCO
EdgeTrak鈩? and the LSL panel forms from the panel edges.

B. COMMON FORM REMOVAL

Quick removal of the MILCO TrakCap and inserted PanelForm PRIOR TO TILT-UP is made as
TrakCap鈩? anelForm鈩?
follows:

鈥? Beginning at the exposed end of a section of common track at the panel edge, insert a pry-bar
between the top of the MILCO TrakCap and the top of the inserted PanelForm just below it and
TrakCap鈩? PanelForm鈩?
raise the pry-bar, thereby lifting up the first section of TrakCap
TrakCap鈩?. Lift-up the reminder of the
TrakCap鈩? section by hand. Move on to the next section of TrakCap and repeat the process.
rakCap鈩?
TrakCap

鈥? If portions of the TrakCap have been inadvertently 鈥渂uried鈥? under a thin layer of concrete,
rakCap鈩?
CAREFULLY tap the concrete surface over the TrakCap with a hammer which will break-up the
TrakCap鈩?
concrete covering sufficiently to remove the TrakCap
TrakCap鈩?.

鈥? If rebar, embeds or inserts impinge upon the TrakCap
rakCap鈩?, removal of the TrakCap prior to tilt-
TrakCap鈩?
up may be accomplished by removing a portion of the impinging device. Alternatively, the
TrakCap may be cut out around the pinch point.
TrakCap鈩?

鈥? Following removal of the TrakCap slide out the PanelForm
PanelForms鈩? and stow them appropriately
rakCap鈩?,
for later removal to a new set of panel forms or to a storage location.

C. REMOVAL OF REVEAL

鈥? Reveal and other functional or decorative forms are easily removed from the slab surface after
the tilt-up by inserting a blade under a corner of the form and lifting.

STEP 8 鈥? ADHESIVE RESIDUE REMOVAL

When MILCO Tilt-Up Spray Adhesive is applied over a bond-breaker, most adhesive residue remaining
on the floor slab after tilt-up will slough off naturally with the bondbreaker material following UV light
exposure. Any adhesive residue still remaining may be cleaned up with a blade scraper, wire brush,
high pressure water sprayer or 3M鈩? Adhesive Remover Citrus Base, which is available from your
MILCO distributor.

MILCO Adjust-a-Trak Forming System 鈩? TILT-UP INSTRUCTION SHEET 鈥? Page 26
When MILCO Tilt-Up Spray Adhesive is applied directly to a concrete surface, any adhesive residue
remaining on the floor slab after tilt-up may be cleaned up with a blade scraper, wire brush, high
pressure water sprayer or 3M鈩? Adhesive Remover Citrus Base, which is available from your MILCO
distributor.

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS

鈥? 鈥淏UBBLES鈥? APPEAR ON SPRAYED SURFACES: This condition may result if proper spraying
distance has not been maintained (at least 2.5 inches) or if adhesive product has been allowed to
鈥渄ry鈥? or otherwise partially solidify within the delivery hose or the applicator, or if the nozzle has
become partially plugged.

SOLUTION: (1) Take care to maintain proper spraying distance (2.5 to 3.5 inches)
during application; (2) Clean delivery hose and/or nozzle with 3M鈩? Adhesive Remover
Citrus Base (available from your MILCO distributor) or replace if necessary; (3)
Remove adhesive from 鈥渂ubbled鈥? area with 3M鈩? Adhesive Remover Citrus Base and
re-spray. Areas where the adhesive has bubbled will not adhere properly.

鈥? DURING APPLICATION, PRODUCT 鈥淪PUTTERS鈥? AND DELIVERY IS INTERMITTENT: This condition
may result if adhesive product has been allowed to 鈥渄ry鈥? or otherwise partially solidify within the
delivery hose or the applicator, or if the nozzle has become partially plugged.

SOLUTION: Remove nozzle and clean delivery hose and/or nozzle with 3M鈩? Adhesive
Remover Citrus Base (available from your MILCO distributor) or replace if necessary.
Check to see that all connections are tight.
