hats, boo ts, and glov es.
Unusual Fire and Explosion Hazards: Can React with Steam, Heat, Acid and Acid Fumes to Evolve Deadly Poisonous Arsine.

V HEALTH HAZARD INFORMATION

Effects of Exposure:

To the best of our knowledge the chemical, physical and toxicological properties of gallium arsenide have not been
thoroughly investigated and reported.
Acute arsenic poisoning from ingestion results in marked irritation of the stomach and intestines with nausea, vomiting and
diarrh ea. In severe cases, the v om itus and stoo ls are blood y and the patien t goes into collapse and sho ck w ith weak, rapid pulse, cold
sweats, coma and d eath. Chronic arsen ic poison ing m ay cau se disturban ces of the d igestive system such as loss o f appetite, cramps,
nausea, constipation or diarrhea.
Gallium and gallium compounds may cause metallic taste, dermatitis and depression of the bone marrow function. Large
doses m ay cau se hem orrhag ic nephritis.

Acute E ffects: May be irritating to skin, ey es and m ucou s mem branes.
Carcino genicity: NTP: Yes IARC: Yes AC GIH : Yes OSHA: Yes

EMERG ENCY AND FIRST AID PROCEDURES:
INHALATION: Remove to fresh air; give oxygen if breathing is difficult. Seek medical attention.
INGESTION: Give 2 cups of milk or water and induce vomiting. Seek medical attention.
SK IN: Brush off skin, wash area with soap and water. Seek medical attention.
EYES: Imm ediately flush eyes, including under eyelids with large amounts of water. Call a physician.

VI REACTIVITY DATA

Stability: Stable
Co nditio ns to Av oid: Water/moisture
Incompatibility (Material to Avoid): Steam, h eat, acids, acid fum es.
Haz ardous D ecomposition Produc ts: Highly toxic fum es of arsenic. Contact w ith acids releases tox ic gases.
Hazardous Polymerization: Will not occur

VII SPILL OR LEAK PROC EDURES

Steps to Be Taken in Case Material Is Released or Spilled: Wear full protective equipment, cover spill with dry sand or
vermiculite. Mix well and carefully transfer to a container.

Waste Disposal Method: Dispose o f in accord ance w ith Loca l, State and Federal W aste Dispo sal Regu lations.

VIII SPECIAL PROTECTION INFORMATION

Respiratory Protection (Specify Type): Wear a NIO SH-app roved du st-mist-fume cartridge respirator.
Ventilation: Handle under dry protective gas. Handle in a controlled environment. Use local exhaust to maintain below TLV level
for Arsenic.

Eye Protection: ANSI app roved safety goggles, or glasses.
Protective Gloves: Neoprene, Rubber
Other Protective Equipment: Wear protective clothing to p revent contam ination of sk in and c lothes.

IX SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS

Precautions to Be Taken in Handling and Storage: Han dle unde r dry protective gas. Protect from hum idity an d w ater. Sto re in
tightly closed containe rs in a cool, dry place. W ash han ds and face thoro ughly after handling an d befo re me als.

Wo rk Practices: Implement engineering and work practice controls to reduce and maintain concentration of exposure. Handle in a
controlled, inert atmosphere. Minimize exposure by using local exhaust and an enclosing process if/when possible. Use good
housekeeping and sanitation practices. Do not blow dust off clothing or skin with compressed air. Maintain eyewash capable of
sustained flushing, safety drench shower and facilities for washing.

The abo ve inform ation is believ ed to be co rrect, but do es no t purp ort to b e all inclu sive an d sha ll be used only as a gu ide.
ESPI shall not be held liab le for any d am age resulting from h and ling o r from contact with the abov e pro duc t.
