Effects of Exposure:
There are no reported cases in the literature where titanium as such has caused human intoxication. The dusts of titanium or
most titanium compounds may be placed in the nuisance category.
Acute E ffects:
Inhalation: Dust ma y cau se irritation to the u ppe r respiratory tract and m uco us m em bran es.
Ingestion: No acute health effects recorded .
Skin : Prolonged or repeated contact may cause irritation.
Eye: Prolonged or repeated contact may cause irritation.
Chro nic Effects:
Inhalation: May cause slight lesions in the lungs, lung fibrosis, bronchitis and emphysema. No other chronic health effects recorded.
Route(s) of Entry: Inhalation, skin, ingestion.
Target Organs: No target organ effects recorded.
Medical Conditions Possibly Aggravated by O verexposure: Pre-existing resp iratory disord ers.

EMERG ENCY AND FIRST AID PROCEDURES:
INHALATION: Remove victim to fresh air; keep warm and quiet; give oxygen if breathing is difficult and seek medical attention.
INGESTION: Give 1-2 glasses of milk or water and induce vomiting; seek medical attention. Never induce vomiting or give
anything by mouth to an unconscious person.
SK IN: Remove contaminated clothing; brush material off skin, wash affected area with mild soap and water. Seek medical attention
if symp toms persists.
EYE: Flush eyes with lukewarm water, lifting upper and lower eyelids, for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical attention if symptoms
persists.

Steps to Be Taken in Case Material Is Released or Spilled: We ar appropriate respira tory and protective equipm ent specified in
Section VIII. Isolate spill area and provide ventilation. Vacuum up spill using a high efficiency particulate absolute (HEPA ) air filter
and place in a closed container fo r proper d isposal. Tak e care not to raise dust.
Waste Disposal Method: Disposal m ust be m ade in accordance w ith Federal, State and L ocal regu lations.
VIII SPECIAL PROTECTION INFORMATION
Respiratory Protection (Specify Type): NIOSH /MSH A app roved du st respirator.
Ventilation: Use local exhaust to maintain concentration at or below TLV, PEL. Mechanical exhaust is recommended.

Other Protective Equipment: Maintain sink, safety shower and eyewash fountain in the work area. Wear full protective clothing at
all times.

Precautions to Be Taken in Storage and Handling: Store in tightly closed containers in cool, dry place. Wash hands and face
thorou ghly. Store awa y from oxidizers.
Wo rk Practices: Imp lem ent en gineering and wo rk practice controls to re duc e and ma intain c onc entration o f exp osure at low levels.
Use good housekeeping and sanitation practices. Do not use tobacco or food in work area. Wash thoroughly before eating and
smok ing. Do not blow dust off clothing or skin with comp ressed air.
