Routes of Entry: Inhalation and Skin.
Effects of Exposure:
Inhalation: Respiratory irritant. Reaction of ZrH 2 and warm m ucous mem branes may produce H 2 and caustic Zr(OH)4. Zirconium
and co mp oun ds hav e been found to cau se pulm onary granu lomas.
Derma l/Eye Contact: Irritating to m oist skin , possib ly cau stic. Allergic derm atitis ma y occur. Irritating to the ey es, po ssibly
corrosive.
Other: Ingestion may cause discom fort due to reaction of ZrH 2 with stom ach acid to liberate hyd rogen gas and heat. Zirco nium is
considered of low toxicity.
Medical Conditions Generally Aggravated by Exposure: Previous respiratory an d skin disorders.

EMERG ENCY AND FIRST AID PROCEDURES:
EYES: Flush eyes for 15 minutes with lukewarm water. Seek medical attention.
SK IN: Wa sh affected area w ith soap and w ater. Seek m edica l attention if sym ptom s persist.
INHALATION: Remove victim from exposure, seek imm ediate medical attention.
INGESTION: Administer water. Do not induce vomiting. Seek medical attention.
