3 HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION
Route of Entry: Inhalation
Target Organs: None Known
Inhalation: Repeated inhalation of respirable dust over extended periods of time may cause injury to the lungs
(silicosis).
Skin Contact: May cause sensitisation by skin contact.
Eye Contact: May cause burning and corneal edema.
Ingestion: May cause caustic burns in the mouth, esophagus and stomach.
This product contains detectable amounts of chemicals known to the state of California to cause birth defects/cancer or other
reproductive harm: Crystalline Silica (SiO2).

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF EXPOSURE: Cough, dyspnea (breathing difficulty), wheezing, decreased pulmonary function,
progressive respiratory symptoms (siliosis), irritation of eyes and potential occupational carcinogen.

4 FIRST AID MEASURES
Inhalation: Move to fresh air. If cough, irritation, or difficulty in breathing persist or develops, call a physician.
Skin Contact: Do not rub skin. Rinse skin free of material with water to avoid abrasion of skin. Wash thoroughly with soap
and water. SOLVENTS SHOULD NOT BE USED because they carry the irritant into the skin.
Eye Contact: Flush eyes with large amounts of water until subsides. If necessary gently hold open eyelids during the
flush. If irritation persists, get medical attention.
Ingestion: May cause caustic burns and tissue damage. Administer milk or water. Do not induce vomiting. Call a
physician or Poison Control Center immediately. Do not give anything orally to an unconscious person.

6 ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
Steps to be taken in case material is released or spilled. No hazard. Vacuum or sweep up and dispose of in standard landfill.
Avoid excessive dusting.

Waste Disposal Method: Preferred procedure is to vacuum material. Otherwise, spray with water and clean up with broom
and shovel. Dispose of in accordance with local, state and federal regulations.

Handling Precautions: Avoid dusting and prolonged contact between skin surfaces and wet or moist Portland Cement.
Storage Requirements: Store material on pallets in a dry location.


8 EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION
Engineering Controls: The use of local exhaust ventilation is recomended to control emissions near the source. Provide
mechanical ventilation in confined spaces.
Protective Equipment: Immediately remove contaminated clothing. Wash hands before eating or drinking and practice

PROTECTIVE CLOTHING/EQUIPMENT: Wear impermeable gloves based on suitability to
protect from contact. Wear protective goggles, per OSHA eye and face protection regulations (29
CFR 1910.133).

RESPIRATORY PROTECTION: Seek professional advice prior to respirator selection and use.
Follow OSHA respirator regulations (29 CFR 1910.134) and, if necessary, wear OSHA/NIOSH
approved respirator. Select respirator based on its suitability to provide adequate worker
protection for given working conditions, level of airborne contamination, and presence of sufficient
oxygen.

Crystalline Silica (group 1), and classified it as a possible human carcinogen based on suficient evidence from cancer in
exposed humans.

The National Toxicology Program (NTP) has listed Crystalline Silica as a group 2 carcinogen and by the state of California
(Proposition 65) as carcinogenic to humans.
