HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION CHIP
Harmful
HCS
Irritant

FIRST-AID MEASURES EYES: Flush with water for 15 minutes. Seek medical advice if irritation persists.
SKIN: Flush with water, then wash thoroughly with soap and water. Remove contaminated clothing and wash
before reuse. Seek medical attention if irritation persists.
INHALATION: Remove the victim from exposure and move to fresh air. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. If
not breathing, give artificial respiration. Keep victim quiet and warm. Seek immediate medical attention.
INGESTION: Drink water and seek immediate medical attention. Avoid alcoholic beverages. Never give
anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

FIRE-FIGHTING INFORMATION Use media suitable to extinguish the supporting or surrounding fire. Wear NIOSH (or equivalent) approved self
contained breathing apparatus. For small fires only: use carbon dioxide, dry powder or foam. Dust/air mixtures may
ignite or explode. Contact with water or moist air may generate flammable and/or toxic gases or vapors.
Flash Point = No data available.

ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES Wear appropriate personal protective equipment and clothing including lab coat, safety glasses, gloves and NIOSH-
approved respirator. Collect in a manner that does not create dust and place in a suitable waste container. Avoid
contact of material with skin or eyes. Use adequate ventilation.

HANDLING AND STORAGE Wear appropriate personal protective equipment and clothing including lab coat, safety glasses, gloves and NIOSH-
approved respirator. Avoid contact of material with skin or eyes. Use adequate ventilation. Dust/air mixtures may
ignite or explode. Store at -20掳C away from incompatible materials.

PERSONAL PROTECTION Wear appropriate personal protective equipment and clothing including lab coat, safety glasses, gloves and NIOSH-
approved respirator. A qualified industrial hygienist should evaluate the need for respiratory protection. Use
respiratory protection approved by NIOSH (or equivalent) and appropriate to the hazard. Avoid contact of material
with skin or eyes. Mechanical ventilation or local exhaust as needed to control exposure to dust, vapors or mists.
Access to a safety shower and eye-wash.

STABILITY AND REACTIVITY Product is stable. Dust/air mixtures may ignite or explode. Contact with water or moist air may generate flammable
and/or toxic gases or vapors. May hydrolyze on contact with moisture to produce $-Naphthylamine which is
carcinogenic and produces cystitis. Handle with caution. Incompatible strong oxidizing agents. Hazardous
decomposition products include carbon and nitrogen oxides and hydrogen chloride gas. Hazardous polymerization
will not occur.

TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION EFFECTS OF OVEREXPOSURE: To the best of our knowledge the chemical, physical and toxicological properties
have not been thoroughly investigated.
EYES: Contact may cause irritation and slight corneal injury.
SKIN: Contact may cause irritation and/or allergic reaction.
INHALATION: Material may be irritating to mucous membranes and upper respiratory tract.
INGESTION: May cause irritation of the mouth, throat, esophagus and digestive tract.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
May be harmful by inhalation, ingestion or skin absorption. May hydrolyze on contact with moisture to produce $-
Naphthylamine which is carcinogenic and produces cystitis. Prolonged or repeated exposure to the hydrolysis
product $-Naphthylamine may cause hemorrhagic cystitis and tumors of the bladder and liver. Oral administration
of $-Naphthylamine resulted in the production of bladder cancers in dogs, monkeys and hamsters and liver cancer
in mice. Epidemiological studies have shown that occupational exposure to $-Naphthylamine is strongly associated
with the occurrence of bladder cancer.
The following data is for $-Naphthylamine only: Only select RTECS information is provided here. Please see actual
RTECS entries for complete information.
Tumorigenic, mutation and toxicity data listed for $-Naphthylamine in RTECS under QM2100000.
Oral Rat LD50 = 727 mg/kg (1986). Details of toxic effects not reported other than lethal dose value.
Tumorigenic data: neoplastic by RTCES citeria (1978-87).
carcinogenic by RTECS criteria (1966).
equivocal tumorigenic agent by RTCES criteria (1947).
Carcinogenic data: IARC Cancer Review: Human Sufficient Evidence (1972).
IARC Cancer Review: Animal Sufficient Evidence (1974).
IARC Cancer Review: Group 1 - Known Human Carcinogen (1979).
OSHA - cancer suspect agent (1987)
ACGIH TLV - Confirmed Human Carcinogen (1996).
NTP 10th Report on Carcinogens, 2000: Known to be human carcinogens.
Definition(s): OSHA = Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
IARC = International Agency for Research on Cancer.
RTECS = Registry of Toxic Effects of Chemical Substances.
NTP = National Toxicology Program Annual Report on Carcinogens.
ACGIH = American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists.
