LC BLock-OUt Resin
Description:
Ultradent庐 LC Block-Out is a light-cured, methacrylate-based, optimum viscosity, pigmented resin. It is
designed for laboratory use on models.
Indications:
The optimum amount of thixotrophy and the ideal viscosity allow one to build reservoirs for use
with the sustained release Opalescence庐 bleaching gel, UltraEZ鈩? desensitizing gel, and Flor-Opal庐
topical fluoride gel. LC Block-Out also works well to repair voids and small fractures in laboratory
models and in repairing dies for block-out undercuts.
Procedure:
1. Remove luer lock cap from prefilled syringe. Twist a disposable Mini tip securely onto syringe.
2. Make sure stone models, dies, etc., are clean and dry to ensure good adhesion of resin.
3. Apply LC Block-Out Resin from syringe. For optimum control, hold plunger in palm of hand
(Fig. 1) rather than in conventional manner with thumb on plunger.
Note: Resin may flow more easily by gently tapping the tip while expressing.
4. For repair or block-out on dies, restore in one fill if no deeper
than 3mm. Deeper buildup should be done 3mm at a time.
Note Figs. 2 and 3.
5. For building reservoirs for customized tray sheets for products
such as Opalescence, Flor-Opal, or UltraEZ, note the following:
a. Apply 0.5mm of LC Block-Out onto the desired labial surfaces
(lingual surfaces may be coated for Flor-Opal trays). Apply
resin to ~1.5mm from gingival junction. Note Fig. 4.
b. Place model in light cure box as shown in Fig. 5 (Ultra-Lume鈩?). Fig. 1
Figs. 2 & 3 Fig. 4 Fig. 5

Make sure surfaces are cured for 2 minutes.1 Additional time may be required with weaker
lights. If trays are to be made in the office, a hand-held intraoral light can be used
(approximately 20-40 seconds per tooth).
c. When resin is cured, wipe off oxygen inhibition layer.
d. Vacuum-adapt tray material to the model.
Precautions:
1. Cover syringe end with luer lock cap when not in use. Store at room temperature.
2. Any resin can be sensitizing to skin or can cause allergic reaction if individual is already sensitized.
Therefore, wash area of any skin exposed to resin completely to remove any material. If
dermatitis, rash or any other allergic reaction is observed, see a physician.
3. Ultradent LC Block-Out Resin is not intended to be used as an intraoral block-out medium. Use
OraSeal庐 Caulking and Putty or OpalDam庐 instead.
4. Clean and disinfect syringes between patients. We highly recommend using Ultradent庐 Syringe
Covers sealed with the Ultradent庐 Impulse Sealer as a protective barrier to prevent
cross-contamination.

1
Studies (two samples below) and clinical experience show that quality of curing light varies from manufacturer to manufacturer.
Important: Effectiveness of light and light-conducting fibers, tubes, etc. decreases as unit ages. Light cure units should be checked to be sure that maximum light
is being delivered for proper curing. Lower intensity lights may require additional curing time.
