Evacuation Procedures
Evacuate the area promptly. Keep upwind of the spilled material and isolate exposure.
Special Procedures
Avoid skin contact and inhalation of vapors during disposal of spills.
Section 7 - Handling and Storage
Handling Procedures
Use protective equipment as described in Section 8 of this material safety data sheet when handling uncontained material.

Keep this material and vapors from this material away from ignition sources, such as heat, sparks, pilot lights, static electricity,

Chronic Toxicity
Prolonged, excessive exposure to solvents (e.g., toluene, acetone, and xylene) may cause nervous system, kidney, and liver
damage. Repeated, prolonged skin contact will defat the skin, causing drying, cracking, and dermatitis.

Prolonged intentional toluene abuse may lead to hearing loss progressing to deafness. It has been suggested that workers
exposed to organic solvents, including toluene, along with noise may suffer greater hearing loss than would be expected from
exposure to noise alone. Overexposure to this material (or its components) has been suggested as a cause of the following
effects in laboratory animals: mild, reversible liver and kidney effects, cardiac sensitization, damage to the central nervous
system, respiratory tract, eye and kidney, and effects on hearing. Overexposure to this material or its components has been
suggested as a cause of the following effects in humans: cardiac sensitization, kidney damage.
Neurotoxicity
No information available for this product. Toluene is a central nervous system depressant which produces lightheadedness,
nausea, headache, and ataxia at low doses and confusion behavioral and intelligence effects, coma, and death at high doses.

Hexane can damage the peripheral nervous system and produce paralysis, numbness, or tingling in the extremities.
Mutagenicity
No information available for this product. Sister chromatid exchanges and chromosome aberrations were elevated in
lymphocytes from laboratory workers exposed to toluene and other solvents.
Teratogenicity
No information available for the product. During pregnancy, chronic inhalation of toluene above recommended exposure limits
may cause effects similar to fetal alcohol syndrome, including birth defects, stunted fetal growth, and an increased incidence of
premature and still births. N-hexane caused degeneration of the testes in experimental rats.
Other Toxicological Information
Toluene has been shown to cause birth defects in laboratory animal studies. Harm to the fetus occurs only at exposure levels
that harm the pregnant animal. The relevance of these findings to humans is uncertain. Toluene may be harmful to the
human fetus based on positive test results with laboratory animals. Case studies show that prolonged intentional abuse of
toluene during pregnancy can cause birth defects in humans.
