MONOTHANE HS - 50 GLOSS
USES:
1. May be used for coating ALL timber species, cork, particle board and concrete.
2. Can be applied over TIMBERSEAL OR DUOTHANE FAST A/ DUOTHANE PART A and
DUOTHANE PART B
3. Compatible with MONOTHANE 45 GLOSS, MONOTHANE 44 GLOSS & MONOTHANE LOW
SHEENS,
FLOOR PREPARATION:
New Floors: Fine sand and vacuum thoroughly.
Old Floors: Clean with hot water and detergent. Roughen surface completely with 150 mesh screenback and
vacuum thoroughly. Wipe floor with URETHANE COATINGS THINNERS. Test for compatibility by
applying MONOTHANE HS - 50 GLOSS on a small section of floor first. If 'crayters' or 'fisheyes' appear,
add 10mls of FLOWMAX Antirejection Fluid per litre of MONOTHANE HS-50 GLOSS and refer to
FLOWMAX directions.
APPLICATION:
NB : Do not use MONOTHANE HS - 50 GLOSS at temperatures below 10掳 C or above 30掳 C. Place
container in tub of hot water on cold days.
1. Apply with mohair roller or brush, allow 4-6 hours to dry. Do not return unused material to can. New
cork and timber floors will need 3 and 2 coats respectively, sand with 150 mesh screenback between coats.
2. Soak brush or roller in URETHANE COATINGS CLEANING SOLVENT. Dry brush or roller before

using.
3. URETHANE COATINGS CATALYST may be added to the first coat of MONOTHANE to accelerate
curing.
COVERAGE: 10m虏 per litre. URETHANE COATINGS THINNERS may be added if MONOTHANE has
thickened, or if a higher coverage and a thinner coat is required.
MAINTENANCE: MONOTHANE requires 7-10 days to fully cure by absorbing moisture from the
atmosphere. Avoid heavy traffic during this period. After curing period, sweep floor regularly and wash
with warm water and a little methylated spirits. Use protective pads under legs of furniture.
SHELF LIFE: This product is best if used within 12 months from manufacture (refer to batch number),
when stored in unopened containers under normal conditions of temperature and humidity. Contains no
more than 0.7 grams per 100mls of volatile free organic isocyanate.
SAFETY DIRECTIONS: Usage of this material must be under well ventilated conditions to minimise
inhalation of vapours. Wear respirator with filters that conform with AS1716. Asthmatics, the very young,
elderly people and pets should leave the site during the first 24 hours. Prevent skin contact by wearing
impervious gloves. Breathing of vapour is harmful and may cause lung irritation and allergic respiratory
reaction. Irritates skin and eyes. Keep tin firmly lidded, as this product cures when exposed to air. In case of
spillage, absorb into dry sand or dirt. Remove from work area and cover with water for 24 hours prior to
disposal.
WARNING FLAMMABLE: Contains 325gms per litre of Aromatic Hydrocarbons. This tin contains
volatile and flammable solvents and when applying the contents adequate ventilation to the outside must be
provided. All potential sources of ignition (open flames, pilot lights, furnaces, spark producing electrical
switches, etc.) must be eliminated in or near the working area. DO NOT SMOKE. Keep tin closed when not
in use.
FIRST AID: If affected by inhalation of vapour, remove to fresh air. If breathing difficulty persists or
occurs later, consult a doctor and have label ready. If swallowed, do NOT induce vomiting. Give water or
milk. CONTACT DOCTOR OR POISONS INFORMATION CENTRE Australia 131126. In case of eye
contact, flush immediately with water for fifteen minutes and call a doctor. In case of skin contact, remove

contaminated clothing and wash skin first with methylated spirits, then with soap and water.
